Day 2
October 20, 2020

TEN! for Ken!

Below is a list of TEN! clues, and the answer to each is someone whose name is or starts with KEN. Grab a first name from the other list below and supply the correct last name.

Note: the first names are what each person typically goes by (otherwise they'd almost all be Kenneth)

1- A former United States Solicitor General headed an investigation of members of the Clinton administration, known as the Whitewater controversy.

2- As far as I know, he is the only panelist on a popular singing competition TV show who is also a licensed physician.

3- He was King of the Movie Soundtrack, especially in the 1980s.

4- If he were to reprise his (arguably) most famous TV role, the show would have to be called Sixtysomething.

5- In 1962, he became the first rookie in baseball history to win a Gold Glove Award. He died in a plane crash two years later.

6- In 1966, he became a member of the folk ensemble the New Christy Minstrels, playing double bass and bass guitar as well as singing. His namesake later won 217 games as an MLB pitcher!

7- This hall of fame golfer came close to winning the Masters in 1958 and 1960, but was edged out both times by Arnold Palmer.

8- This Irish actor, director, producer, and screenwriter, known for his film adaptations of William Shakespeare's plays, has been nominated for five Academy Awards (no wins). Oh, he's the only Sir on the list.

9- This pugilist fought Muhammad Ali three times in the 1970s (won, lost, split).

10- This rapper/hip hop artist has also gone by the names K-Dot, Kung-Fu Kenny and Cornrow Kenny.

3- He was King of the Movie Soundtrack, especially in the 1980s. More no hope.

4- If he were to reprise his (arguably) most famous TV role, the show would have to be called Sixtysomething. I watched thirtysomething one time. I thought it was supposed to be a comedy, but it wasn't. Anyway, no hope.

5- In 1962, he became the first rookie in baseball history to win a Gold Glove Award. He died in a plane crash two years later. Now we're talking! Oops, dunno this one either.

6- In 1966, he became a member of the folk ensemble the New Christy Minstrels, playing double bass and bass guitar as well as singing. His namesake later won 217 games as an MLB pitcher! Nope.

7- This hall of fame golfer came close to winning the Masters in 1958 and 1960, but was edged out both times by Arnold Palmer. This one would have to be Jack for me to get it.

8- This Irish actor, director, producer, and screenwriter, known for his film adaptations of William Shakespeare's plays, has been nominated for five Academy Awards (no wins). Oh, he's the only Sir on the list. I think I could get this one if I thought about it for two days.

9- This pugilist fought Muhammad Ali three times in the 1970s (won, lost, split). I got one! Ken Norton.

TEN! for Ken!

Below is a list of TEN! clues, and the answer to each is someone whose name is or starts with KEN. Grab a first name from the other list below and supply the correct last name.

Note: the first names are what each person typically goes by (otherwise they'd almost all be Kenneth)

KEN STARR

2- As far as I know, he is the only panelist on a popular singing competition TV show who is also a licensed physician.

I nursed a grudge for a long time against him because his sitcom replaced Forever, but I came around to him when he played the gay college roommate on Fresh Off the Boat

3- He was King of the Movie Soundtrack, especially in the 1980s.

5- In 1962, he became the first rookie in baseball history to win a Gold Glove Award. He died in a plane crash two years later.

Dammit, this is a standard trivia question and I can't catch (ha!) the name...

KEN HUBBELL? HUBER?

Something like that. Or that could be the name of some guy I went to junior high school with, who know....

6- In 1966, he became a member of the folk ensemble the New Christy Minstrels, playing double bass and bass guitar as well as singing. His namesake later won 217 games as an MLB pitcher!

KENNY ROGERS

7- This hall of fame golfer came close to winning the Masters in 1958 and 1960, but was edged out both times by Arnold Palmer.

KEN ROSEWALL

Yeah, I think he's a tennis player, but it's the only old guy athlete named Ken that I can think of, and isn't golf and tennis kind the same thing when you get right down to it?

8- This Irish actor, director, producer, and screenwriter, known for his film adaptations of William Shakespeare's plays, has been nominated for five Academy Awards (no wins). Oh, he's the only Sir on the list.

KENNETH BRANAGH

The first (and best) movie I ever saw him in was Dead Again, in which he starred with Emma Thompson (I think they were still married at the time). Very cool and underrated movie!

Spoiler
1- A former United States Solicitor General headed an investigation of members of the Clinton administration, known as the Whitewater controversy. Kenneth Starr

2- As far as I know, he is the only panelist on a popular singing competition TV show who is also a licensed physician.

3- He was King of the Movie Soundtrack, especially in the 1980s. Kenny G

4- If he were to reprise his (arguably) most famous TV role, the show would have to be called Sixtysomething.

5- In 1962, he became the first rookie in baseball history to win a Gold Glove Award. He died in a plane crash two years later. They killed Kenny!

Kendrick [Tiger] Woods, after going back in a time machine.

8- This Irish actor, director, producer, and screenwriter, known for his film adaptations of William Shakespeare's plays, has been nominated for five Academy Awards (no wins). Oh, he's the only Sir on the list. Sir Kenneth Branaugh

9- This pugilist fought Muhammad Ali three times in the 1970s (won, lost, split). Ken Norton

10- This rapper/hip hop artist has also gone by the names K-Dot, Kung-Fu Kenny and Cornrow Kenny. Kenny Rogers, in an alternate reality even more messed up that the one we all find ourselves in this year

No points bonus: Who is the the most famous Ken... not on the list above. Ken, Barbie's boy toy. Does he actually have a last name?
