As a 14-year-old Mets fan, I loved watching Tom pitch. RIP

A Caltech classmate of mine who's now a neurologist tells me that Lewy body dementia is about the worst diagnosis she has to give patients with any frequency. I knew that Tom Terrific was suffering from early dementia, but I didn't know it was that.Vandal wrote: ↑Wed Sep 02, 2020 6:41 pmHall of Fame pitcher Tom Seaver passed away in the early hours of Monday, August 31. He's obviously responsible for some on my earliest memories of my beloved Mets. RIP, Tom. --Bob

Growing up in Philly, I always hatted knowing that he was in the same division and that we'd have to face him often. The man could flat out pitch. I will always remember though, that Phillies bench warmer Tommy Hutton hit Seaver like he owned him. always an interesting quirk.

I have heard reports that the coronavirus was also a factor in Seaver's death.

Re: RIP Tom Seaver
Just read an article about Tom Seaver and the other Mets pitchers of that time including Jerry Koosman.
Koosman was from a town (Appleton, MN) about 45 miles from here.
At some point, he and some other guys bought or built the main bar in Morris, MN, which is a college town about 15 miles from here.
They named it "The Met" which is still its name today. So you Mets fans may not have known that there is a small town bar in Minnesota named after the Mets.
Sometime, in the 1970's, my mom was at a Christian Women's event in Morris and said to the lady next to her.
"I really like your hair, where did you get it done?"
Answer: "New York."-Turns out is was Mrs. Koosman.
