Dem Congressman Threatens to Nuke the US
I think it is cute how Leftists just automatically assume that the military would be on their side in any type of civil war situation.
Democrat Congressman Eric Swalwell after getting some blowback on a gun confiscation scheme posted on Twitter.
>>>"And it would be a short war my friend. The government has nukes. Too many of them. But they’re legit. I’m sure if we talked we could find common ground to protect our families and communities."<<<<

Crickets from the left. They must all be in agreement with him.
..what country can preserve it’s liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? let them take arms.

Although I did not save the link, Mr. Google provided one (of many) by looking up the Congressman's name. I had been curious about what state he was from. I was not surprised by the answer.Bob78164 wrote:The quote doesn't appear to match the thread's title. Perhaps someone would care to provide a link. --BobBackInTex wrote:Crickets from the left. If Spock wants a substantive response, I'm sure he'll be happy to provide a link so that we can review the statement in context and respond meaningfully. If not, and if no one else cares to, then this isn't important enough to me to bother. --Bobsilvercamaro wrote:Although I did not save the link, Mr. Google provided one (of many) by looking up the Congressman's name. Here's what Snopes has to say:
https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/eric- ... ers-nukes/
Interesting the number of times that conservatives are quick to claim that things are jokes that are a lot better thought out than this one offhand comment by the new Congressman.

I wouldn't call Rep. Swalwell a "new" Congressman. He just got reelected to 4th term, having taken the seat from fellow Democrat (and 10-term incumbent) Pete Stark. --Bobsilverscreenselect wrote:Here's what Snopes has to say:

On the other hand, it doesn't look like this guy was kidding even a little bit. I'm waiting for his constituents to say that he doesn't speak for them by removing him from his position as County GOP Chair. --Bob

You see, Bob, most Republicans (the adults) understand that their representatives may have some beliefs that differ from their own; they don't all feel the need to demand their representatives kowtow to their every whim, or be threatened with a recall.Bob78164 wrote:On the other hand, it doesn't look like this guy was kidding even a little bit. If you're comfortable with someone willing to express those thoughts representing the Republican Party, then you're helping to prove my point. --Bobtlynn78 wrote:You see, Bob, most Republicans (the adults) understand that their representatives may have some beliefs that differ from their own; they don't all feel the need to demand their representatives kowtow to their every whim, or be threatened with a recall.Bob78164 wrote:On the other hand, it doesn't look like this guy was kidding even a little bit. It's not whataboutism because I'm not changing the subject as a way to avoid reacting to Rep. Swalwell's comment. I'm fine with what Rep. Swalwell wrote. Construing his words as a threat to nuke the United States is, to say the least, risible.Beebs52 wrote:Ooh. Whataboutism! So do you believe you agree with every opinion voiced by every individual representing the Democrat party, everywhere? Or, if you disagree, their voice should be silenced?Bob78164 wrote:If you're comfortable with someone willing to express those thoughts representing the Republican Party, then you're helping to prove my point. I believe someone who expresses thoughts that inappropriate should be removed from a position of authority. If the Party declines to do so, it is effectively endorsing the view.tlynn78 wrote:So do you believe you agree with every opinion voiced by every individual representing the Democrat party, everywhere? As a Republican elected official, are you saying that someone who expresses those views about the fires that rendered hundreds of Californians (including Marley's family) homeless deserves to keep a position as Chair of a county Republican Party? --Bob

You can't change parameters at your whim. By posting what you consider a crazy statement in rebuttal to what you don't consider crazy you, like, sound very Californian. As a person, I'm saying I don't feel the need to have people either agree with me 100% or be silenced. I guess that's why I'm a Republican. I'm okay with that. Ftr, I think that guy is dead wrong about this particular issue. I have no idea how effective or ineffective he might be in his position, and since he's not in my district, and I'm not the thought police, it's not my direct problem.Bob78164 wrote:I believe someone who expresses thoughts that inappropriate should be removed from a position of authority.
