I was actually thinking of those plastic shoes with the holes in 'em that a lot of people seem to be wearing but I don't know what you call 'em other than "those plastic shoes with the holes in 'em".

The Pope began in nicely-accented French. Continued so for a long-time before switching to English.

Should he ever get tired of his current job, he could make it in Canadian politics.

Except that his careful intonation nearly put me to sleep in about 2 minutes.

G - Crocs.

An idea of a Quebec City couple, sold to Coloradans, but until this week the factory was still in Quebec City area.

Q5: DISASTERS EAST OF OTTAWA, ONTARIO, CANADA

B - The Frenchman Jean Casadesus died in a car crash on the old Killer Strip of Highway 17 near Rockland, Ont, when the 2-lane road was still the main route between Ottawa and Montreal. This was a particularly noted death, since M. Casadesus was

1 - Youngest in a famed family of classical pianists, and he would play the three-piano repertoire with his parents.
2 - Youngest and bravest of a family of tightrope walkers.
3 - A French cabinet minister studying North American highway quality.
4 - A race car driver who had survived fiery Grand Prix racing wrecks.

G - The Gray Nuns in Orleans, Ontario, which in 1956 was a lonely outpost between Ottawa and Rockland, and is now a bustling suburb, had a convent there. It was destroyed by fire with considerable loss of life, after being struck by:

1 - Twelve consecutive bolts of lightning.
2 - An out of control fuel oil truck, followed by an out of control fire truck
3 - A 250 pound meteorite
4 - A fighter aircraft from a squadron protecting the national capital.

B Robert, Gaby et Jean Casadesus.

Pianists.

There is in fact a 3-piano repertoire, although to the non-pianistic world, it is mostly one piece: Mozart Concerto for 3 pianos and Orchestra K. 365.
I believe there is still an EMI recording of the Casedusus family playing it.

G There was an ep of Canadian Bravo Disasters of the Century toay aon this one.

It was the fighter aircraft. Scrambled from Uplands Airport to check on a blip with radio failure, which turned out to be routine military passenger shuttle from the Arctic Circle. There were two fighters scrambled, one returned with no problems, and one suddenly lost communiation and flew into the ground. Oxygen system failure most likely. And while it could have hit vast areas of open space, or some moo cows in a barn, it hit the largest building in a great area, a Catholic convent.

B team wins by a head or two...

well, the Orleans - Rockland sector is 1000 % different now than what it was in the fifties or even the sixties. Although there is still Ontario Provincial Police OPP Rockland detachment, who would still respond to any such crises today.

The convent reconstructed is now the Residence St-Louis, a home for the aged, and is by or close to the river.

I dont see HEAT.

I do see New Orleans Hornets and Utah Jazz, which makes no sense at all.

So.... it's The Raptors, of whom I have never heard, Hornets, Jazz and one other team?

Is that right?

2 - Woodworking
3 - Coalmining
4 - Railroading

G - Senator Clinton apparently was noted to have swigged this whiskey brand, to the disapproval of some:

1 - Jim Beam
2 - Jack Daniels
3 - Johnnie Walker
4 - Crown Royal.

I think she was in some bar that had Royal or Crown in it's name - or something like that.

B - In what official language of the United Nations did Pope Benedict begin, and give most of his address to the General Assembly?

(And I dont think he was wearing his Gucci red loafers, but I didnt check. )

G - 700 jobs down the drain in Canada, and Lou Dobbs won't even notice. It seems this fine fad footwear cannot abide North American wages of up to fifteen bucks, and will henceforth be made only in the third world.
I heard French but I don't know if he started that way or not.

The only fad shoe I can think of is Crocs - I didn't know they were made in Canada.

I had them in pink and green and yellow.

I would were one color on my right foot and a different on my left.

I was such a fashion statement!

I would also wear a different sock on each foot - sometimes totally coordinated.

I like 3 or 4 best, I will go with 4, although 3 would be a real kick in the head

I like 3 for killing the nuns.

I liked the fake answers much better.

Let's make up some urban legends about each of those things.

That would be fun!
