RIP The Pioneer Cabin Tree

#1 Post by Vandal » Tue Jan 10, 2017 11:13 am

The Pioneer Cabin Tree, a giant sequoia in Calaveras Big Trees State Park that was tunneled through in the 1880s, has fallen due to severe winter weather. It was believed to be hundreds of years old.

I honestly clicked on this, seeing SSS had posted, wondering how he was going to blame this on the Republicans. Then I realized: that would be Bob Juch.

There is a sort of global warming argument that could be made here, I guess, but that's pretty much of a stretch.

How about the fact that 60% of the base the the tree was removed? Probably by Whigs.
..what country can preserve it’s liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? let them take arms.

A bit tongue in cheek, but the structural integrity of the tree was definitely weakened by it being hollowed out at the bottom. Nowadays, environmentalists would put up a fight if someone tried to do this to a protected species like the redwood .....

I didn't know you could make wigs out of wood. I'd suspect George Washington used it for his teeth but I'm a century off here.

Not my quote. MrKelly's quote. You're channeling me, though.
