there is no anagram for Tucker on the list?

Preston Tucker would go with Howard Hughes.

ACk! Yes - Clifford Irving.

Do we have a Kevin anywhere, by chance? Tundra anagrams to Durant.

43. Lance Armstrong goes with 56. Greg + LeMond (Old Men)

Second use of 86. Patrick Stewart here, as he co-starred on ST:TNG with 61. Michael + Dorn (Dr. No)

We're also looking for partial matches with:

8. Jean + Arp (Rap)
35. Francisco + Goya (Yoga)
??. Gustav + Mahler (Harlem)

and possibly this one if Carl Lewis is right and the Ernst Chain partial is wrong:

5. Carl + Icahn (China)

5. is definitely Edwin Moses, but we might get our Carl back at 54., if that's Carl Jung.

The physicist who studied electroscopy, circuit theory, and blackbody radiation is Gustav Kirchhoff, which gives you the partial for Mahler.

Puritans anagrams to Rasputin, so we're looking for a Gregory or Grigori.

Might be Grigory Potemkin

Didn't someone else point out that Eleanor Smeal would make a good fit for Eleanor Roosevelt and Salem on the word list? She could then go with the clue about a NOW president.I could swear someone's already posted that , but I couldn't find it.

31. is Carlos Finlay. I went ahead and looked it up -- didn't see anyone coming up with that spontaneously.

I'm gonna bet that he connects to his successor as British PM, David Cameron. We have the anagram (Romance), but we need a David.

I'll post a consolidation late tonight. It'll have these new matches:

32. DAVID DELLINGER + CAMERON (Romance) = 72. GORDON BROWN
55. GRIGORY POTEMKIN + RASPUTIN (Puritans) = 85. NICHOLAS II

and these recent partials:

50. GUSTAV KIRCHHOFF + MAHLER (Harlem) = ?
33. ELEANOR ROOSEVELT + SMEAL (Salem) = 82. NOW president

I didn't know who Nathanael West was till I looked him up in Wikipedia. I found two possible connections:
RKO assigned the film, eventually released as Suspicion (1941), to ALFRED HITCHCOCK; but Hitchcock already had his own, substantially different, screenplay. Hitchcock's screenplay was written by Samson Raphaelson, Joan Harrison (Hitchcock's secretary), and Alma Reville (Hitchcock's wife).

West ran a stop sign in El Centro, California, resulting in a collision in which he and McKenney were killed. (Their deaths occurred the day after that of F. SCOTT FITZGERALD.)
If Hitchcock had used West's script, or if West and Fitzgerald had died the same day, it would be a definite match.

Of course I know who Jessica Lange is, but I just learned that:
From 1976 to 1982, she was partnered with renowned Russian ballet dancer MIKHAIL BARYSHNIKOV, with whom she had her first child, Aleksandra ("Shura") Baryshnikov (born 1981).
Jean Arp is also a new name to me. He was a Dada artist, as was MARCEL DUCHAMP.

82. During her tenure as president of NOW, she engaged in more than 80 debates with Phyllis Schafly over the ERA, but earned the enmity of some members over her advocacy of equal custody rights for men in divorce cases.

I had been looking for a West match. Edmund Wilson; the editor was his good friend.

But, as I read further, turns out F Scott and the Wests were friends. The week before he died, F Scott and Sheila Graham were at the Wests' home playing charades.

SO, F Scott it is.
