Possible partial to watch for:

4. EVERY + WOMAN (73. John Lennon) + ??. IN THE WORLD = EVERY WOMAN IN THE WORLD (95. Air Supply)

Oh, here's the completed Air Supply song!

46. I want you to love me, like I'm a hot pie
Keep thinkin' of me, doin' what you like.
So boy, forget about the world cause it's gon' be me and you tonight,
I wanna make you beg for it, then I'm-a make you swallow your pride.

ONLY GIRL (IN THE WORLD), Rihanna

Pretty sure that "Blue" was a Leann Rimes song. She's down there at #80.

And here comes another completed partial:

59. Nutty-nutty-nutty my love for you,
I can't believe my dreams come true,
I've finally found somebody whose heart is true,
And best of all you love me, too.

DOESN'T REALLY MATTER, Janet Jackson

That completes the Gilbert O'Sullivan quartet.

I was wondering if anybody had done a song simply called "Night". Sure enough, somebody had a top ten hit with it:

66. ONE... + NIGHT (97. Jackie Wilson) + 10. ...LOVE AFFAIR = ONE NIGHT LOVE AFFAIR (30. Bryan Adams)

And I just realized that Akon had a song called "Beautiful", so we're not looking for Christina Aguilera, after all.

21. THE MOST... + BEAUTIFUL (87. Akon) + 81. ...GIRL = THE MOST BEAUTIFUL GIRL (6. Charlie Rich)

Damn! Please keep looking for Christina Aguilera. You'll need her for other reasons as well.

In that case, she's here:

67. I told my mother, my brother, my sister and my friend,
I told the others, my lovers, both past and present tense.
Every time I see you, everything starts making sense.

AIN'T NO OTHER MAN, Christina A.

So that means the intended quartet with Akon will be elsewhere. I'm not exactly sure how Akon will be used in this game. Most of his songs are two-word titles, and we're focusing on either one-word "fillings" or songwiches of at least three words. Akon's only other notable one-word song titles are "Bartender", "Dangerous", and "Hypnotized". None of those words appear as a "filling" in any notable songwich. Most of Akon's titles of at least three words contain unimportant words in the middle.

NEW CONSOLIDATION... which I hope is complete.

Game #162: Songwich

Identify the 100 songs in the clues below. (Most are from the pop charts, but we make several excursions elsewhere, including a few notable album cuts.) Then, match them into 45 foursomes according to a Tangredi, or principle you must discover for yourself.

51 songs will be used twice, each time in a different capacity. 13 songs will be used three times, each time in a different capacity. One song will be used four times, each time in a different capacity. Yes, there are four ways a song can be used, though two of them are variations of the same usage. You’ll see, I hope.

At least two of the songs in every foursome are used more than once in the game. In twelve of the foursomes, all four songs are used more than once in the game.

A song cannot be used twice in the same foursome.

Where a song title is relevant, words in parentheses should be treated as part of the title.

Where an artist is relevant, I am usually looking for the original artist. There are a few exceptions where someone else arguably had the definitive and/or most successful version of a song.

I hope this proves an easier nut to crack than the last game. And I do hope those pesky alternate solutions don’t screw things up. Play on!

I only assumed that because every "filling" so far has been a one-word title.

Now that you've said that, I've been thinking about that particular Bruce Springsteen song you've used in this game. I don't know too many songs that begin with "Working", but the most obvious one is "Working My Way Back to You" by the Four Seasons. We have the Four Seasons, and we have "My Way" by Frank Sinatra... but we'll have to see if there's a song title that ends with "Back to You" in this game. I have a couple of titles in my head. Maybe one of them will show up.

The middle item still has to be a full song title.

There is a Supremes song title here, and it's the coolest sandwich on the menu.

oh, gosh!

Never saw it until now

That's the one that made me want to do this whole game.

I finally went back to Akon. His biggest hit was "Don't Matter", which can indeed be a filling:

27. IT... + DON'T MATTER (87. Akon) + 9. ...TO ME = IT DON'T MATTER TO ME (56. Bread)

An obscure Bread song, even though it was a Top 10 hit. I've heard it only once before today. In fact, I couldn't remember if it was called "It Don't Matter to Me" or "It Don't Matter at All"... and either title could have worked in this game.

Oh, balls! How could we miss such an easy song like this one?

2. DO YOU... + BELIEVE (57. Cher) + 95. ...IN LOVE = DO YOU BELIEVE IN LOVE (34. Huey Lewis & the News)

One of the many "Love" songs from my last game.

It was my favorite Bread song back in the day. Reminds me of a ....

Here comes another partial, since I was trying to figure out how Lonestar and Miss Manilow fit into this game. Turns out they go together here:

??. CAN'T + SMILE (69. Lonestar) + 33. ...WITHOUT YOU = CAN'T SMILE WITHOUT YOU (5. Barry Manilow)

Could have been expected. Who makes a songwich without Bread? --Bob

Here are the lyrics to the ones that were unfilled at the consolidation

I can state that - except for #99 - I would NOT have gotten any of these without looking them up. OK, Maybe Tim McGraw. Maybe not.

31. This is my song for real, no doubt,
See the DJ is making me feel thugged out.

FEELIN' ON YOUR BOOTY - R KELLY

32. I need it when I want it,
I want it when I don't,
Tell myself I'll stop every day,
Knowing that I won't.

BECAUSE OF YOU - NE-YO

47. Here we are,
What is left of a husband and a wife with four good kids
Who have a way of gettin' on with their lives,
And I'm not old but I'm getting a whole lot older every day.
It's too late to keep from goin' crazy,
I've got to get away

ANGRY ALL THE TIME - TIM MCGRAW

51. There you are
Holding her hand.
I am lost,
Dying to understand
Didn't I
Cherish you right?
Don't you know
You were my life?

CAN'T LET GO -- MARIAH CAREY (FINISHES OFF BARRY MANILOW MATCH)

54. I won't talk,
I won't breathe,
I won't move till you finally see
That you belong with me.

TRUE -- RYAN CABRERA

58. My man put me up for the share, one-fourth of a square,
Headed for Delaware with one change of gear.

STREET DREAMS - NAS

74. It’s morning, and we slept the night away.
It happened, now we can’t turn back the hands of time (oh no).
Yes, we’ve stolen this moment, we forgot to face, one simple fact:
We both belong to someone else as we slept the night away.

AS WE LAY - KELLY PRICE

77. One, two,
I'll party you,
Three, four,
So get your butt on the floor,
Five, six,
Know you dig the mix,
Seven, eight,
Let it shake.

GET UP- TECHNOTRONIC

90. Well, I'm about to get sick
From watchin' my TV,
Been checkin' out the news
Until my eyeballs fail to see.
I mean to say that every day
Is just another rotten mess,
And when it's gonna change, my friend,
Is anybody's guess.

TROUBLE EVERY DAY - FRANK ZAPPA

93. I'll give the sun,
The rain,
The moon,
The stars and the mountains.
I'll give you the world
And all that you wish for
And even more.

READY OR NOT - either After 7 or Babyface

96. I took Katie down by the river with a six dollar bottle of wine,
Just a fool tryin' to play it cool, hopin' she'd let me cross the line.

NEVER WANTED NOTHING MORE - KENNY CHESNEY

99. You don't have to say what you did,
I already know, I found out from him.
Now there's just no chance for you and me, there'll never be,
And don't it make you sad about it.

CRY ME A RIVER - JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE

OK, let's build off of Melly's new info.

26. LAY... + LADY (40. Little River Band) + 74. ...LAY = LAY LADY LAY (94. Bob Dylan)

31. FEELIN'... + STRONGER (11. Britney Spears) + 90. ...EVERY DAY = FEELIN' STRONGER EVERY DAY (53. Chicago)

24. ON... + THE WAY (84. Fastball) + 43. ...DOWN = ON THE WAY DOWN (54. Ryan Cabrera)

47. ANGRY... + YOUNG (96. Kenny Chesney) + 67. ...MAN = ANGRY YOUNG MAN (9. Billy Joel)
"[Drumpf's] name alone creates division and anger, whose words inspire dissension and hatred, and can't possibly 'Make America Great Again.'" --Kobe Bryant (1978-2020)
