Bill Johnson was the first American to win an Olympic gold medal in Alpine skiing. He won the Men's downhill in 1984 in Sarajevo.

Ouch! WAY too young. He was an amazing hero to many of us. I still remember that shot of him tearing up on the podium at the gold medal ceremony.
