Republican Debate BS Bingo -- Redemption

#1 Post by Pastor Fireball » Wed Sep 16, 2015 4:00 pm

The second GOP presidential debate, hosted by CNN, begins at 8 PM Eastern. The kiddie table debate, which will be without Rick "Oops!" Perry, begins shortly. I'm not forcing my wife or kids to watch this time. Just like George Michael, I'm going solo tonight. But unlike George Michael, the only things in my hands will be an ink pen, a bag of Skittles, a glass of Moscato, and a bottle of Pepto-Bismol. An ink pen to mark my squares for Round 2 of BS Bingo. Let's see if I can get some luck with this set:

You will notice five red boxes on the card this time around--no two of which appear on the same line. These are wild cards that represent multiple possible words and phrases:

--"Godwin wins": Mark this square if a candidate makes any reference to Nazis. (Examples: "Hitler", "Neville Chamberlain", "appeasement", or "ovens".)
--"Speak American or go home": Mark this square if a candidate says anything in Spanish.
--"Judge not": Mark this square if a candidate whines about the American judicial system. (Examples: "judicial tyranny" or "unelected judges".)
--"Jesus wept": Mark this square if a candidate claims the existence of persecution against Christianity. (Examples: "War on Christians" or "Kim Davis".)
--"Blame the media": Self-explanatory.
"[Drumpf's] name alone creates division and anger, whose words inspire dissension and hatred, and can't possibly 'Make America Great Again.'" --Kobe Bryant (1978-2020)

Two hours into the debate, I was tempted to flip over to the season premiere of South Park because I felt that I would have been less offended by the TV-MA cartoon. But I stood my ground and watched all three hours of the clown show.

I did much better than I did last month. I think I marked 14 total squares, but I undoubtedly scored the diagonal bingo from "This president..." to "Hillary's e-mails" ("judicial tyranny" was used for the "Judge not" wild card). The candidates danced around at least four of the other squares on my card. The most frustrating tease was on the "Speak American or go home" wild card. I had my pen on that square when both Jeb! Bush and Marco Rubio indicated that they were about to give an answer in Spanish... but they blew right by it.

I really cannot stomach another GOP debate. Besides, I lost my voice after three hours of shouting various forms of "Liar!" at the TV. I'm waiting for the general election debates next year. Those ought to be fun for BS Bingo, depending on the candidates.

I had it on for a while but didn't pay close attention. I did notice that Carly Fiorina said it would take two-thirds of the states to repeal the 14th amendment. She's lucky she never had to pass a citizenship test.

Technically, she is correct.

I didn't watch it, but I heard the candidates were asked which woman they would put on the $10 bill, and Jeb Bush answered Margaret Thatcher. I'm guessing he named her because she is often associated with Ronald Reagan, and he was trying to associate himself with Reagan. I'm sure he knows the person on the bill has to be an American.

And after giving it much thought I have decided on Jeb as the candidate I am going to lie and tell my father I am supporting when I go home for Thanksgiving.

Nope. Constitutional amendments require a two-thirds vote of each House of Congress followed by ratification by three fourths (not two thirds) of the states. --Bob

Before you can get to 3/4, you have to get to 2/3. Which may be the joke BiT was making.

Correct. But as stated in another thread, he doesn't get the obvious.

By this time next year you should be permanently silent.
