A silver medal for The Secret at Haney Field!
My publisher notified me that my 2014 release, The Secret at Haney Field: A Baseball Mystery, won a silver medal at the 2015 Global Ebook Awards
This book has been nominated for many awards, including a Newbery and Cybil (Children's and Young Adult Bloggers' Literary Awards), but it's very tough to compete with books from large publishing houses.
This time I won a silver medal for Children Literature. Unfortunately, the awards page originally put the publisher's name instead of mine for the author (now fixed). Here's the link:
http://globalebookawards.com/2015-globa ... d-winners/
It looks like this:
Fiction Categories
Children Literature Fiction
Gold: The Dolphin Princess, Sylva Kelegian
Silver: The Secret at Haney Field: A Baseball Mystery, R. M. Clark
Bronze: The Royal Fables: Stories from the Princes & Princesses of the Texas Children’s Hospital, Marc Clark
It's great to be recognized for all the work that went into the book.
My next one, The Right Hand Rule, comes out September 15. It won't win any awards, but it's a lot of fun!
Edit: Awards page has been fixed to include my name.

Congratulations.
This may be a stupid question, but I noticed in some categories they had silver award winners but no gold medal winners. How can they have a category in which they say there's someone good enough for second place but not first place?

There is an explanation at the top:
Note: In some categories more than one ebook is listed as the winner due to the number of entrants and the sum of their scores from the judges. Some categories may have limited or no awards.
My guess is there's a "gold standard" based on judge's scores that has to be met. If two books meet the threshold, both win. If none do, they award the highest level met.
Mystery Fiction and Suspense Fiction have a gold, two silvers, two bronzes and an honorable mention.

Very good! I see you have 6 5-star reviews and 2 4-star ones. And you got looong reviews! One even reviewed the cover design!

Thanks, everyone.
The new publisher doesn't seem like the the award-seeking type, so I'll have to live with this one for the near future.
And, I'll have a cover reveal for the new book very soon.

Re: A silver medal for The Secret at Haney Field!
Does this mean you can put "award-winning author" on the cover of the next book, or not (since you indicated it's a publisher's award)?

Re: A silver medal for The Secret at Haney Field!
It's an author award. The publisher's name was mistakenly used (it has now been fixed).SpacemanSpiff wrote:Does this mean you can put "award-winning author" on the cover of the next book, or not (since you indicated it's a publisher's award)?
I wouldn't do it because it's a different publisher and the award is not a significant one (though it is nice). I have the silver icon prominently displayed on my author site, so that will have to do.
Thanks to everyone for your continuing support!
