You Can Call Me Skoop 2

#1 Post by silverscreenselect » Wed Dec 24, 2014 10:40 am

Well it looks like Skoop won't be the only reporter on the Bored now. I got the best Christmas present possible, a new job. I will be what they refer to as a legal reporter for a new company called Courtroom View Network. The best way to describe them is Netflix for lawyers. Lawyers (and others like law schools and major media outlets) can subscribe for a monthly fee and get access to live streaming video of civil trials and hearings around the country. They can either watch the trial live or access the archives which have all the trials they've covered. It's indexed by cases, litigants, and judges and each case is broken down into various sessions. So, if an attorney wants to watch the closing arguments of Smith v. Jones, he can do so.

Their main service is national, but they are starting up separate services for Georgia and Florida, limited to cases in those two states. The idea for the local service is that attorneys can do research about particular judges, opposing attorneys, and potential expert witnesses to see how they handle themselves in actual trial situations so the attorney who subscribes can better prepare.

I will be locating potential cases (by examining court dockets and calendars and networking) and also "reporting" on the cases, which will mean monitoring the cases daily and writing up reports on the day's events. I'll probably get involved in the blogging and other activities as well as the expand. So, it's a really interesting and challenging job and I'm looking forward to it in more ways than one.

Here's the website for the service: http://cvn.com/

Sounds like a really good job. Hope everything goes exactly the way you want it to.

Congrats SSS!
Skoop 2, does that mean you'll be pulling for the Puddy-Tats in the NFC South Toilet Bowl? :D

I'm a legal reporter, not a sports reporter. Unfortunately, there's no option for "none of the above" in this division.
