top o' the mornin'® 8/6/2014
The bitter taste of defeat is still in my mouth. elwing and I went to Tuesday trivia and got our keisters royally kicked. The fact that one of the two bonus rounds gave 3 points each for naming members (current or past) of the Rolling Stones (we could only think of 2 at the time) and two other questions were pop culture related ("who famously said, after her divorce, 'at least I can wear my high heels again' and "what starlet got her big break after being named Miss Artichoke") and I had total brain cramps on two others ("By what name is October 29, 1929, known?" and "What famous musical composition was written to celebrate the victory at the battle of Borodino?") - I knew both of them but wrote down the wrong answers. Oh, well, a little humility is a good thing.

At the risk of sounding like some others who chime in 'I knew those', I will say I would have gotten a few. Not sure I would have gotten more Rolling Stones names but I knew

I would have gotten only three Stones, neither of the women, but both of the history questions.

Even those of us who held toward Mr. Cruise no animosity (well, until later we learned about his Scientology crap ruling his next relationship) said a sort of "heh heh" at Ms. Kidman's remark. Those of us who are women anyway. Even those of us who are shorter than Mr. Cruise & never wear high heels.
I thought I knew a lot about MM, but I did not know the Miss Artichoke deal until now.
And I knew Black Friday.
Could name at least 1 ex-Stone.

Dicky Barrett is the lead singer of TMMB. He is also the announcer on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. The band showed up last night (Wednesday) to play "They Will Need Music." After a break, they came back and played "The Impression That I Get," with Jimmy Kimmel on saxophone. IIRC, Ben "Bosstone" Carr danced through both songs. What else is he gonna do?

I think the image I used to lead off my Monday post was from that appearance on the Seth Meyers Show, and Google mentioned it was only a few days old. That's the cool thing about the Mecca CD.. it keeps me relevant whether I want to be or not!
