Ryan Fritz Holznagel made oddball bets like that in the 1995 J! TofC which he won.
For those who didn't see the Tuesday J! Battle of the Decades 90s(1994-2003) game:
For those who didn't see the Tuesday J! Battle of the Decades 90s(1994-2003) game:
Spoiler
He was up against Pam Mueller, 2000 college champ, and 1998 TofC winner Dan Melia. Pam won by betting nothing on Final J! despite being the lead and getting FJ! wrong. Ryan was in second place and wagered low(he got FJ! wrong), in order to prevent third place Dan from having a chance to win(Dan got FJ! right). Pam is the first non TofC winner in seven Battle of the Decades games aired through last night to win a game
