I am no longer a blue star parent

#1 Post by SpacemanSpiff » Wed Mar 05, 2014 6:07 am

Hooray! Son-of-Spiff is back home from Afghanistan, back as of yesterday at Fort Knox. Nice pictures of him and his fiancee on Facebook.

(BTW, that's Captain Son-of-Spiff to you! :P )

One less thing to worry about for now. And I know he's glad to be back (as are we all).

Congrats and thanks from Texas, as well.

Whatever the Army tells him to do. Nothing new there! 8)

I'm not sure if he'll be reassigned or not; the last eight months he was there, he was the company commander, Foxtrot Co., 1-26 INF (aka the Blue Spaders). As with all jobs, there are some things that aren't the most pleasant (one of which was the obligatory commander's letter to the next of kin of one of his soldiers). But he seems to be in the long haul. He says that's good for at least through January, and what happens after that might be up to the folks in Washington (budgets and all).

And, as with all of my young 'uns, I tend to find out through FB first.
