Congrats to those of you getting the call!
Add me when you are updating the list, please. I auditioned in Denver July 12, passed the written test, interviewed with an AP, had a video interview with a producer and received a

card.

WOOOOOOOOO! That is awesome. October 29th is my second tape date, so depending on how things go, perhaps we'll meet. Best of luck to you!

Ya never know. Not even kidding, last night I told my husband that it was so late in the taping season that I didn't think I was going to get the call. He agreed with me- figured that since I auditioned so early, they would have called me by now if they wanted me. We kind of laughed it off as a fun lark and moved on...so I was super shocked that they called today. You just never know.

That's awesome. I know it's going to be cool no matter what happens, but currently my brain is vaporlocked. I hope some of my smart comes back by next week. I will need it.

It's crazy how expensive hotel rooms are in New York! I just books the plane tickets and hotel for my wife, son, and I. Since I am coming from California the $1000 minimum prize won't cover my costs so I better do well.

Ow! Where in California? You should have hit "Jeopardy!" first.
Our old Lucerne Hotel is $250/night but there are lower cost ones.

Sacramento Area. Since I am bringing my wife and son, and staying 4 days it's a little more money. I found a hotel just outside of New York for less than $100 per night.

That's so low I'd worry about it.
I lived in Shingle Springs for two years from 1979-81. I'm glad I don't live there now; I've seen how backed-up US 50 can be.

It's a Days Inn and it got good reviews. I booked it directly on their site so I doubt there is anything to worry about. Yeah, US 50 can be bad at certain times but I rarely have to use 50 so it doesn't bother me.

Yikes, that's a heck of a commute! I'm fairly local, so I'm just on the hook for making my husband drive me in. (yeah, yeah, I'm a Where Else). Where did you end up staying? PM me if you like- I'm from the "just outside NYC" area myself so I might be able to give you some info on your hotel and the surrounding area.

I could use all they've got, since I'm currently unemployed, but I am rather likely to break a leg since I am uncoordinated.

Where "just outside NYC"? I lived in Hoboken, Westbury, and Bernardsville before moving to South Carolina 4.5 years ago. I was living in Westbury when I was on the show in 2006 but flew to WDW to tape.

I'm currently in Rutherford, which is a really nice area. I grew up in Jersey City. Not such a nice area, but it's not lacking in charm. It's just rather, urban. If Temple's Days Inn is the one I'm thinking it is, it's probably the one in North Bergen. I've actually stayed there before when my apartment was undergoing some repairs and it was fine. The neighborhood is a little sketchy, but it's very central to transportation and as crash space for a few days, it's tolerable.

It could be the one in Ridgefield which would be closer to the GWB. Also IIRC we've had BBs stay at the one at 215 W 94th St in Manhattan before.

That's true. I wouldn't consider Ridgefield super close to NYC, but I suppose it's all relative, and yep, it's close enough to the bridge to be convenient. Either way, it should be close enough to be comfortable, which is all that matters. I thought about getting a hotel room to minimize stress, but realized I'd probably be more comfy in my own house with my cats and my entire closet to ransack.

For the people who have already taped can you explain the tape day process with me? I will be bringing my wife and 3 year old son to New York with me. They told me that I can not bring my 3 year old son to the studio so my wife will have to stay in the hotel with him while I tape. Which such since I won't have anyone there in the audience for me. The producer over the phone told me that tape days are 12 hours long and that she didn't know if I would tape on the 29th or the 30th. Just curious what some people's experience was like. Thanks
