Scott: The only thing I can think of--Before I say anything, I think I'm going to ask the audience. I don't want to influence them.

A: 26% B: 59% C: 7% D: 8%

Scott thinks about it some more, commenting on how much easier it is at home, before deciding to jump the question.[]

I was kind of furious, beaming thoughts at the set & so-forth, because I really hate funk music (love r&b, hate funk) & watched one of those "history of rock" shows once where George Clinton, Funkadelic Master Whatever, describes how he had various musicians play a little out-of-tune with each other to "increase the irritation" quality of his music (I thought "yeah, that explains a lot"), but, of course, he didn't ask that of the person laying the backbone of the beat, Bootsy Collins. Bootsy is playing steadily & beaming a probably-drug-induced beam in all the footage of him I've ever seen. He's a great bass player. It's kind of funny that hss501 conjectured (left out of the write-up) that he's pretty sure he's seen Bootsy playing in back of (I forget name) who is, I think, a blues player, not a funk player.

And I know that the band in back of the Motown classics called themselves the Funk Brothers, or something. To me, though, they’re not funk, they’re Motown. Whereas that really irritating stuff that George Clinton promulgated is funk. Whatever.

[Reveal] Spoiler: Answer/Value/Bank
B: Funk University
Question Value: $5,000

Noting their purchase of "Exile and the Kingdom," a recent article ran with the headline "Malia and Sasha Obama Buy Young Adult Novels - and" what?

A: Kafka B: Sartre
C: Camus D: Beckett

Scott jumps the question.

I would have thought I knew this stuff but I’ve never heard of this book. Know it’s not Kafka, reasonably sure it’s not Beckett, drawing blanks on sticking it on Camus or Sartre. Don’t trust audience on this one. Jump it.

[Reveal] Spoiler: Answer/Value/Bank
C: Camus
Question Value: $7,000

Didn’t know this one either; never heard of Parks taking such a picture. But Parks isn’t the clue here unless you know the picture; description of picture is clue. I’d have got it, by much the same reasoning as hss501 did.

[Reveal] Spoiler: Answer/Value/Bank
C: American Gothic
Question Value: $100

Didn’t know for sure, but have heard enough interviews with the raised-devoutly-religious-&-still-is Colbert to bet on him. Cross fingers, go for it

It was Fatboy Slim, who is most associated with funk. I remembered Bootsy Collins's name attached to Weapon of Choice, but Fatboy Slim samples all types from all people, so while that made funk most likely it didn't exclude the possibility of country. Arrgh.

This brings up an interesting point: did Eddie Timanus have the clues in Braille when he played Millionaire? I know on J! he had to go completely by ear, save for the categories, which were printed for him.

Okay, two things I've been wondering about since September, one of which I could have just looked up and the other of which probably can't be known.

1. Has anyone ever had the top three dollar amounts at the top of their stack, in order? I've seen the top three amounts in the top three questions before, but never 10, 15 and 25 in that order like I had. Am I the only one so far? The odds of that happening are 1 in 720, so it's possible.

2. Anyone want to take a stab at what my unrandomized stack might have looked like? My questions were:
1. Bootsy Collins = Funk University
2. Cherubism = puffy cheeks
3. Exile and the Kingdom = Camus
4. Mocktail = no alcohol
5. Photo = American Gothic
6. Pussy Riot = Hooliganism
7. Handmade = Etsy
8. Burnie = Miami Heat
9. Sunday school = Colbert
10. Southern = Australia

My best guess to the unrandomized stack is:
Level 10 - 9. Sunday school = Colbert
Level 9 - 3. Exile and the Kingdom = Camus
Level 8 - 6. Pussy Riot = Hooliganism
Level 7 - 1. Bootsy Collins = Funk University
Level 6 - 7. Handmade = Etsy
Level 5 - 10. Southern = Australia
Level 4 - 5. Photo = American Gothic
Level 3 - 8. Burnie = Miami Heat
Level 2 - 2. Cherubism = puffy cheeks
Level 1 - 4. Mocktail = no alcohol

Thoughts?

Pussy Riot has been in the news a lot. However, Etsy is probably a harder question. I've heard of it, but many people haven't.
