Oddly, I can say Nihil Obstat because The Squirrel's Nest was a morning/afternoon show that Carson did on WOW radio and WOWT in Omaha, NE. In one of his recurring bits, he interviewed the pigeons (and other birds) on top of the Douglas County Courthouse, asking about the local political corruption that they saw.

This is a big money question, and the whole set is lit up like it's for $500. There's little tension compared to before, when the lighting emphasized the increasing seriousness and focus on the contestant. At the end it was just the contestant and Meredith, plus a guest sometimes. Now they don't bother with that anymore.

I'm going to have to agree with you on that one and add my two bits on the music as well. Even before I went on, I was disappointed that I'd never be able to hear the four infamously pulsating notes reserved for the upper tier, even though I honestly barely remember any of the music. Even TDC era had a sense of anxious anticipation as the seconds ticked down.
