My Dad is Better than Your Dad

#1 Post by MarleysGh0st » Tue Mar 04, 2008 8:08 am

They moved the show to 8 pm last night (the time slot it ought to be in, if it's trying to attract a family audience) so I gave it another try last night and got to see something unusual.
Spoiler
The first challenge was basically a giant skeeball game, with the dads having to roll these medicine balls up a ramp into a hole. Two dads had a lot of trouble with the exertion, one of whom ended up collapsed on the floor. TPTB decided he was incapable of continuing, so they rushed him off by ambulance. He was fine, though, and a scene they must have taped later showed him promising to lose twenty pounds and come back to compete again.

But what was oddest about this experience was that TPTB had apparently anticipated this sort of occurance in the rules, which called for a substitute team taking over their place! That team ended up making it to the final two.

They've also changed the giant velcro dartboard game since the first episode. Now the kids are allowed to throw the darts at the board instead of having to collide with it, which makes it much easier to get a high score.

And the final challenge has borrowed a page from the Fear Factor "yuck" challenges; the dads had to bob for tomatoes in an aquarium filled with snakes. :P
There's still nothing engaging about this show. Lots of attitude and posturing towards the other teams, interspersed with "My dad might have choked on that challenge, but he's still the greatest," and "This is for you, Mom!"

The winning dad just happened to be...
Spoiler
Mr. California of 1979.

He was definitely in better shape than the grayhaired dad who got taken away in the ambulance.
