Congratulations. I was pretty confident they would come out on top. :D

Wow! Congrats to team Maddie.

Congratulations! Do they proceed to State, now?

The state championships are at the end of the month. Luckily there are no quiz bowl matches scheduled for that weekend.

When I was picking up Maddie yesterday, I told her coach that Maddie had given up going to Southern California Championships for Quiz Bowl to be at the match. She said that Mock Trial is her future and that Maddie made a wise choice.

Oh, yeah, like becoming Chief Justice of the Supreme Court is more important than preparing for another game show! :P

Congrats to El Dorado! I saw only the first match, not the second, and the first match was VERY close. Woodbridge had won County something like 5 of the last 8 years, so this was a bit of an upset. Maddie is fortunate to be on such a strong team, and have three good mock trial years ahead of her. I'm judging the 2 Saturday rounds at State, but I won't be judging the OC team. The best of luck at State!

Maddie told me that before they went to the courthouse, they had to watch a clip of Miracle and they were told to think in terms of Mock Trial and not hockey.

Congrats to Maddie's team!

In this part of the country, does Mock Trial take the place of traditional debating, or do both competitions exist?

I am not sure if her school has a debate team, so I can't answer your question.

I think that it depends on the individual school and on the individual interests of the teachers at the school.
