Got my 100th eBay feedback!

#1 Post by gsabc » Fri Feb 22, 2008 9:28 pm

Now it's a turquoise star next to my name. Woulda happened sooner, but I've got four (of nine) buyers from two weeks ago who never left any, despite a friendly reminder.

The comic book re-cataloging is a real trip down memory lane. I can point to a few which were among my first purchases from the drugstore next to my elementary school. I can tell you where I bought some others, too. (So why can't I remember the name of someone I worked with only two years ago?) I'm surprised at the terrific condition of some of them. All to the better, since they'll sell for more (I hope).

Selling my old stuff on eBay is fun, but very labor-intensive. More like clearing out the house, rather than cleaning it. Ah well. The less old stuff remaining, the more room for the stuff we really need. As I put it in my item descriptions, I'm "paying for a wedding by cleaning out the basement".
I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

In a sort-of related story, a local guy here in Pittsburgh owned a store called "RecordRama". He's retiring after umpteen million years, and put his personal vinyl record collection on eBay where it was bought lock, stock and barrel by someone in the Netherlands...for over $3,000,000.

The pictures of the stacks and stacks and stacks of albums are staggering.

And I'm STILL pissed at myself for not holding on to my old baseball cards...
There is something wrong in a government where they who do the most have the least. There is something wrong when honesty wears a rag, and rascality a robe; when the loving, the tender, eat a crust while the infamous sit at banquets.

Congratulations!

How great that you are ridding yourself of the stuff you have held on to.

Congratulations. I do know that as a novice seller you will find people more likely to bid on your items (and bid higher) once you get a decent rating as a seller. I refuse to bid on anything sold by someone without a good track record.

BTW, don't waste time and energy trying to get people to leave feedback. Either they will or they won't. I've found about 60% of my buyers left feedback. And if you get them ticked off at you for being a pest (even a friendly reminder strikes some people the wrong way), they may avoid you in the future.
