Yikes. Nothing obvious, but my first impression was somewhere west, and probably south. Don't think California, since we already had one there. So based solely on the yellow & red on the real estate sign. I'll guess New Mexico... Santa Fe, maybe?

Probably a toughie but I think it can be figured with the right knowledge so I do not expect a repeat of yesterday.

Well, yeah. It may look like Snaxx is just copying the same rules in every day's edition of the game, but he actually puts some specific guidelines/hints in there to be read!Queen Fantine VIII wrote:Going for the obvious, as in obviously wrong.....

OK, so I checked the scores thread and it looks like the only region we haven't hit yet is Southwest which is good 'cuz this place kinda reminds me of that Radiator Springs town on Route 66 in the movie Cars. I liked that movie. So that kinda narrows it down to Nevada, New Mexico or maybe Arizona. Since this doesn't quite look like Vegas and I don't really know why anyone would visit anywhere else in Nevada, I'm ruling that out. The city's got to be one we've heard of so I'm thinking Phoenix, Flagstaff, Grand Canyon, or Albuquerque. I've been to the GC and this isn't near there as far as I know. This looks to small to be Phoenix. I could see it being Flagstaff b/c I think there's Spring Training there and I could see you visiting that, but you also said you've been like everywhere and where else would you go in NM if not Albuquerque, NM. If this is the best touristy pic of a state you've got, I've got to believe there's more interesting stuff in Arizona so I'm betting this isn't there.Spoiler
Pretty good! But you apparently didn't know that in 1950 Hot Springs, NM changed their name to Truth Or Consequences. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Truth_or_C ... New_MexicoSpoiler
I'll take it! I've never heard of Truth or Consequences but it's officially right up there with Intercourse, PA, Boring, OR (Sister City to Ithaca perhaps?), and Beer Bottle Crossing, ID for awesome city names.
Spoiler
Last year, I actually was close enough to Boring to see and get a picture of a rather boring highway sign. This was from the Clackamas Town Center trolley (MAX light rail) station

Those license plates look like New Mexico and so does the feel of the scene. Not tony enough for Santa Fe though there are some grubby places. Albuquerque is kinda like this but knowing snaxx' love of game shows...Truth or Consequences....changed for a radio program in the 1950's. Ismay, MT is the modern day equivalent.
I believe in the usefulness of useless information.

Re: "I've Been Everywhere" Game for 3/1/11
This was from Truth or Consequences, NM. Originally called Hot Springs, it changed its name thanks to a dare from Ralph Edwards' radio quiz program. (BobJuch posted the wiki link for clem) I visited in July 2007 before that year's Game Show Congress event in LA. Indeed it was hovering around 100 degrees (IIRC 102-103 while I was there).
I shrunk it to 640x480 with the distant signs unreadable since the banner from the lamp on the far left, just above the no U turn sign, mentions "Truth or Consequences"
This particular game almost did not happen. Among the demonstration items I considered was an entrance sign to "Ralph Edwards Park," but I went with two others. Had I gone with Ralph Edwards, that would have negated this game.
Since I just asked for the place, I am accepting christie1111's blind stab at "Hot Springs, NM" since it identifies the place. However, I am awarding additional credit (+2) to those who came up with the current name T or C.
Also:
clem a +1 for mentioning the other funny or boring place names
Marley a +1 for his plumbing leak comment, which I thought was funny
A welcome Aboard to bazodee and themanwho. Although the latter missed this entirely we could use your expertise on some games and also to deny Fanny's quest for the basement

Yeah I may have stretched the idea too far, I know I did that once before (test week?) so in the future I'll just stick with the responses like in LS. But I still encourage funny discussion as I like it.

It actually was a pelican (see the blow-up image). Not sure what a pelican was doing there and in NM flag colors too. There is some water in the form of the Rio Grande. And there are the hot springs too.themanwho wrote:So that sign in front of the blue building wasn't a pelican?
