Indeed I did, but you didn't go back in the thread far enough. I actually first made that wish after Seattle and St. Louis were both 4-4....
When we found out at work last night that Seattle had indeed won, I was the only one cheering..... everyone else was just apathetic....
I am just a bit ticked that New Orleans couldn't beat Tampa friggin' Bay to make next week's playoff game even more of a mockery (12-4 playing AT 7-9)......

Re: NFL Pick'em Contest standings
I like how they played "We are the Champions" after they won, LOL. I will be sure to get my 2010 NFC West Champ cap.
Also funny is how mad Giants and Bucs fans must be at not only being 3 games ahead in the standings but also each holding a head to head stomping over the Hawks (NY won 41-7, Tampa won 38-15. Both games were predominately played with Charlie Whitehurst at QB.)

Although this person probably doesn't work with you, I'm thinking he or she was pretty happy with the result of last night's game also.littlebeast13 wrote:When we found out at work last night that Seattle had indeed won, I was the only one cheering..... everyone else was just apathetic....
Note the predicted score for the tiebreaker game, by the way. This player was one point out of the lead going into the last game. I infer that he or she correctly guessed that the leader would pick the Rams to win the game and made the only choice (based on that assumption) that gave him or her a chance to win the contest. I'm glad it paid off -- head's up game-playing should be rewarded. --Bob

Hmmm. Not sure about your inference. Lots of people in our pool picked Seattle. They were the home team after all. Why do you think she thought the other player would pick St. Louis? Am I missing something?Bob78164 wrote:Although this person probably doesn't work with you, I'm thinking he or she was pretty happy with the result of last night's game also.littlebeast13 wrote:When we found out at work last night that Seattle had indeed won, I was the only one cheering..... everyone else was just apathetic....

Re: NFL Pick'em Contest standings
I infer that redcorvette changed his or her pick for the final game at the last minute (more or less) because that player's tie-breaker selection for the score of the final game had the Rams winning. I assume that the apparent change was based on a correct guess that the then-current leader would pick St. Louis (which, unlike Seattle, was playing its first-string quarterback). --Bobandrewjackson wrote:Hmmm. I will allow that I've occasionally messed up the tie-breaker scores and I picked Seattle last Thursday without any knowledge of who the quarterbacks would be. But maybe so.

Or maybe they changed their pick because they decided the Seahawk's mascot is cuter than the Rams'...andrewjackson wrote:Hmmm. OK. The game got the highest rating for a Sunday Night game since 2002.littlebeast13 wrote:And the NFL gets what it deserves, as the only matchup that is actually a do-or-die game for both teams, and is being thrust onto the national spotlight, is the "epic" battle between the teams atop its worst division in league history.....

I saw an analysis two or three weeks ago laying out what was claimed to be a realistic scenario leading to a 5-11 playoff team. I'm thinking maybe parity has gone a little too far. --Boblittlebeast13 wrote:Bob78164 wrote:I guess you got your wish. --Boblittlebeast13 wrote:Come on 7-9 playoff team!!!!!!!!!!!! Re: NFL Pick'em Contest standings
The worst it could get now would be for Atlanta and New Orleans to tie each other and finish in a three-way tie with Carolina, which already has a tie, at 5-10-1. But I think the most likely scenario is that the Falcons-Saints winner will take the division at 7-9.Bob78164 wrote:I saw an analysis two or three weeks ago laying out what was claimed to be a realistic scenario leading to a 5-11 playoff team. Re: NFL Pick'em Contest standings
As a fan of the Saints since 1970 (when they drafted Archie), I have no qualms about admitting that we are a terrible team this year. Our only saving grace is that everyone else in the NFC South sucks just as bad. My fantasy land dream is that we actually do win the division and make the playoffs where we go on the most unlikely of runs and make history as the first team to make the SB after getting in with a losing record. There is evidence that we can play with good teams (see the Green Bay & Pittsburg results) if we can get our act together. I would imagine the futures line on us making the Super Bowl would be about 1000-1 right now but hey, all crazy dreams don't take place after you are asleep.

I believe I took the lead after Week 3, and at one point about midseason had such a commanding lead over everyone that I figured even I couldn't blow it. Of course, I should have known better...
