identity crisis at work

I got to work this morning, logged into my computer using my "Common Access Card" (CAC for short), and started catching up on e-mail and such. I got up from my desk and took my CAC with me (as per security protocols); when I got back, my computer had gone into secured screensaver mode (as it is supposed to do). Normally I would just put my CAC in the reader and log back into the computer; however when I did so I got a message indicating that my card had been "blocked". No explanation for what happened, but I had to go down to the security office and try to get it unblocked. That process involves a biometric fingerprint scan - but despite repeated attempts, the system wouldn't recognize my fingerprint, so it wouldn't unlock the card. I found myself wondering if I really was who I think I am, but finally after the ninth attempt the scanner finally acknolwedged that I was who I thought I was.

You just gotta love modern security requirements.

I hope nobody will be expecting my inquisition I plan on conducting very soon to locate and exile all the evil sinners in this wonderful God-fearing country of ours. I figure I can make millions, maybe billions of dollars off of all the pennance gifts I'll soon be collecting....
