I think this is the fifth or sixth J! test I have taken, and this was the hardest. I passed all 4 of my previous in-person tests, but I am not at all confident I got 35 or better on this one.

I knew I was in trouble as soon as the first question came up and I couldn't pull the answer from my internal encyclopedia. It just wasn't working for me tonight, dang it.

<Sigh> I'll never know...the storm came through right in the middle of the test and knocked everything out for five minutes, just enough so by the time I got logged in again the test was over.

I actually did not find the questions so hard; it was the time that was too short! I had far too many "tip of my brain" moments, causing me to miss ones I actually knew.

And, of course, there were a few more I would have recognized, given choices, BAM style.

Such is life.

Yeah, that too! It reminded me in a big way of typing stuff into Google for the BAM ATA Qs contest. I didn't always cut & paste that, because it wasn't working for me quickly; I forget why, something about my setup here. At any rate, I was often barely done typing before the time ran out!

I found the time went by very fast. My old age of 27 is catching up with me apparently. Even my pop culture knowledge is dwindling since I don't get Entertainment Weekly anymore. MAWGdom here I come. I couldn't even remember the capital of ND.

I knew the capital of ND-and the capital of New Zealand. I guessed on the algebra question-probably wrong. At least there wasn't any Shakespeare this time.

Yes, there was one Shakespeare question - it asked which play started with a couple on a boat owned by Antonio(?).

I've taken the in-person test twice and the online test once, and never worried about passing. This time . . .. I just finished listening to the tape I made as I took the test and checking the answers and I have either a 33 or a 34 depending on the correct answer to the food clue.

Ack!

Eighteen months, huh?

If it doesn't violate some confidentiality code, I can post the list of correct answers I compiled if anyone is interested.

Fingers crossed: based on the unofficial transcript on the J! board,I'm a 35, which would be a pass by the hair on my chinnychinchin.

Never even heard of Charles Eames or Grey Gardens. I guess I just ain't got cultch.

Note to self: Remember to read the freakin question. Wrote down Conan Doyle instead of Sherlock Holmes.

On the other hand, had a couple of lucky guesses: Sense and Sensibility, roan, and Nice.

Good luck to all.

Woulda, coulda, shoulda - based on the transcript I was 21 of 29 at the time the power went out and would have ended up with 37 out of 50.

And let me take this opportunity to thank fannie and the others who have been discussing Project Runway on the Bored. I know nothing about the show, never seen an episode, but its mention here got me the right answer for the very first question, getting me off to a good start.

Finally figured out that the reason the time went by so fast was that they didn't allow any time for the reading of the question. You actually had much less time to answer on the test than you do on the show, or on the test they give you in person.

For anyone who hasn't taken the in-person test, they have a tape with Johnny Gilbert reading the same type of blue screen answer that you see on TV. You then have something like ten seconds to answer. The total time for answering is probably more like 20 seconds than the 15 they gave us on the online test.

Would you do this?

Or is the list elsewhere? I would like an idea of just how badly I did.

Ear already brought it over from the J! board. It's in the "Crap!" thread.

This is exactly right. Plus, if I can recall correctly from the post-test fog, a couple of the questions were written a bit elliptically. So, between the actual reading and the actual typing, very little time for the actual thinking. That is why taking the test is so much harder than just reviewing the questions here, post-mortem.
