Well....
You would think I would know how Jack spells his last name, now, wouldn't you.
I also did not even know the people who others named as answers.
I also thought I was onto something about My Name is Earl and all the time I spent trying to remember his nickname, due to his hairy nipples was wasted, as I was clearly in the wrong arena. I will go look it up and see if I can find out what that nickname was - they just teased him horribly.

Yeah, I kinda like nicknames. Who knew? The following nicknames are from sports figures. For a sporting (ha!) chance, I’ll give half-credit if you give the correct sport for which the person is known. This is not an extra 5 points, you can name the athlete for 10 points, or pull a sport out of your shorts for 5 points, but you don‘t get both.
hey, a lot of stuff I know.
1. The Splendid Splinter
Ted Williams
2. The Golden Bear
Jack Nicklaus
3. The Assassin''
Jack Tatum
4. The Human Highlight Film
5. The Pocket Rocket (be nice)
Henri Richard. Young brother of Maurice, to be mentioned later. Also, a member of an "elite" society, those born on a Feb 29. IIRC, 1936.
QOD: The Answer (athlete only on this one) Allen Iverson
5 Point Bonus: Who is the Rocket (brother of #5)? Nah. He was the brother of #16. #5 was Boom Boom Geoffrion. Maurice Richard.
5 Point Bonus Bonus: What is the nickname associated with today's title? (Titles aren't necessarily related to the topic (right, Trekkers? Ha!), so don't limit yourself to sports on this one) HAL
15 Point Super Bonus if you know the childhood nickname of the answer (ha!) to the QOD. Bubba Chuck

Re: QOD Friday 12-28 "MY NAME IS"
sorry for double posting. Edited to cut all the repeated answers, and adding a comment.
Spoiler
I did get to quaff an ale once at Henri Richard's tavern, on "Avenue-du-Parc" before it closed. I bet MAC did, well more than once.

12-28 My Name Is
1. The Splendid Splinter
TED WILLIAMS, BASEBALL
I have an old 50's copy of his autobiography My Turn at Bat. He really was a misunderstood guy, I think. I have maybe 1/2 dozen autobio of Red Sox players. The funniest was The Wrong Stuff, by Bill Lee, the saddest was Tony Conigliaro (although the title escapes me right now).
2. The Golden Bear
JACK NICKLAUS, GOLF
3. The Assassin
JACK TATUM, FOOTBALL
Wasn't Darryl Stingley in a DorA earlier this month?
4. The Human Highlight Film
DOMINIQUE WILKINS
Don't be so negative, Snoop. What about Spud Webb? What about Tree Rollins?
5. The Pocket Rocket (be nice)
HENRI RICHARD
Give yourself extra points if you pronounced this AW-REE when you said it in your head. Spunky, I want to give you points so badly because I didn't even think of the Ismail brothers when I thought I'd managed to get around all the other Rockets with the brother thing. And I should have thought of that, because I loved Raghib (because of Notre Dame, of course).
QOD: The Answer (athlete only on this one)
ALLEN IVERSON
5 Point Bonus: Who is the Rocket (brother of #5)?
MAURICE RICHARD
etaoin cracked me up with his Geoffrion reference.
5 Point Bonus Bonus: What is the nickname associated with today's title? (Titles aren't necessarily related to the topic (right, Trekkers? Ha!), so don't limit yourself to sports on this one)
SLIM SHADY
Referencing the Eminem song. My Name is Earl didn't even occur to me. And it should have, since I watch it every week.
15 Point Super Bonus if you know the childhood nickname of the answer (ha!) to the QOD.[/quote]
BUBBACHUCK
His uncles couldn't agree on who got to give him his nickname, so they compromised. Ha!
Props to Nelly and etaoin on this one, I was hoping there would be a few Georgetown fans in the crowd who might have known this.
