Because I went to hidden when I started doing the QOD so people wouldn't see me and hang around waiting for something if it wasn't going to happen. I'll change that once December is done.T_Bone0806 wrote:HEY! How come my magic mirror didn't see you?fantine33 wrote:Miss Susan would NEVER call my name. Damn those Patty and Kathy and Jimmys...
Last time I buy old tv props on ebay.....
Your mirror wasn't here when I announced that at the beginning of the month, so don't go giving negative feedback or anything.

I know what you're talking about, only because I've read about it.T_Bone0806 wrote:"Romper Stomper Bomper Boo, Tell me tell me tell me do, Magic Mirror tell me today, Did all my friends have fun at play?"

I'm not pretending to be too young to remember. We just didn't have television reception in my town during what might have been my Romper Room days. I never saw Howdy Doody, either, except during some much later program of tv memorabilia.

Anyway, I always made sure I was dressed before the end of the show, as I was terrified at the thought of Miss Diane looking through her Magic Mirror and catching me in my underwear.
For a bright kid, I was pretty dimwitted. There were do-bees, there were don't-bees, and me..the dumb-bee.

I just missed the Howdy Doody thing by a couple of years...I WAS, however, very much a Captain Kangaroo kid. I still can't see a ping pong ball without thinking of Mr. Moose.silvercamaro wrote:I know what you're talking about, only because I've read about it.T_Bone0806 wrote:"Romper Stomper Bomper Boo, Tell me tell me tell me do, Magic Mirror tell me today, Did all my friends have fun at play?"

Ours was Miss Patty. And I don't think she ever called me! Or my sister Eileen either
When Megan was Romper Room age, there was a horrible Romper Room teacher -- I can't remember her name. I do recall dark brown hair in a "Dorothy Hamill" cut. But, talk about a mean woman! She just talked so nasty to the poor kids! Especially to little boys. Megan remembers watching it, and doesn't think she was that bad. Me, I couldn't stand watching her and always wondered what she was doing in that job.
But when I was little, it was my ambition to be a cool Romper Room kid! However, our nearest show was in Johnstown, PA -- too far away. My parents explained that we would have to get up really, really early to drive there and be on the show. Hey.....I was perfectly willing to do that! Guess they weren't But somehow they translated "kid wants to be on Romper Room" to "kid just wants to be on TV" (they were mistaken.) So for my 8th birthday I was on "Ricki & Copper."

Ricki & Copper was a birthday show hosted by local TV personality & Junior High Quiz moderator Ricki Wertz along with her golden retriever, Copper. They actually taped it the day before, so you could watch it on your actual birthday with your friends and family. Only one problem -- up till that time, I was deathly afraid of dogs!!!!!! I have no memory whatsoever of my appearance on that show. Probably because I was cringing in terror of the damn dog! Oh well.....I survived, and Copper didn't eat me up!
But the next day (my actual 8th birthday), I decided I was too embarrassed to be afraid of dogs anymore. So when my friends down the block came over with their elderly, gentle collie, Lassie -- I climbed down from my normal perch atop the sliding board (my usual refuge when a dog was nearby) and forced myself to call her over. And petted her & made friends with her!
