Well, the thing is, how are you feeling today, Sunflower? Are you back to normal, or still iffy?

I feel a lot better, thanks. I still feel a little like I took cold medicine (I didn't) but I think that's the stress talking more than anything. When I'm stressed like this I could sleep for 18 hours a night. I don't think I'm in need of more medical attention, just some TLC!!

MarleysMom has that (among other ailments) but I didn't want to pile on additional possibilities for House's diagnostic team to go wild on.tanstaafl2 wrote:Checking for orthostatic hypotension might be helpful and a wee bit cheaper than the other tests...MarleysGh0st wrote:Well, sunflower, it's never boring being one of Dr. House's patients!![]()
But this does bring up a good question for the Bored doctors. I'm sure the CT scan, the MRI, the EKG, etc. etc. are all wonderful diagnostic tests that are invaluable in many instances.
What is the proper diagnostic test for dehydration?

Re: I am overwhelmed...
Actually I was told three years ago I'd need one in a year or two. The doctor today said I won't need one for a long time. My pain is not from the hip joint. Where it is from is a mystery. He suggested I get an MRI after my move is done.MarleysGh0st wrote:What's going on around here?Bob Juch wrote: I'm seeing my orthopaedic doctor in a hour and a half to see if it's time for my hip replacement.

Re: I am overwhelmed...
I'd be interested in what your pain is. My pain varied up and down the upper quadracepts and interior portion of the hamstring. I always had severe sharp pain right in the groin area if I tried to cross my legs too far or tried to run. It has progressed to where I can't lift my leg at times, such as to wash my foot in the shower due to the pain in the quad and groin area, and when I do, I will have pain lowering the leg. Also if I sit too long, especially if I'm in a position where my knee is higher than my hip, my leg hurts to straighten out.Bob Juch wrote: The doctor today said I won't need one for a long time. Hopefully all that will go away for me on 3/2.

Your pain is right where it should be for hip pain. Mine is on the outer portion of my leg. The surgeon I saw today said he'd never even have mentioned hip replacement as a possibility at this time.BackInTex wrote:I'd be interested in what your pain is. Used to distinguish liver cancer that actually originated there, as opposed to varieties that started elsewhere.

Without having read on in this thread yet (I was having a medical thing of my own yesterday, but it was scheduled, not a surprise) I strongly urge you to let the ER people do their tests. Especially since you do have insurance. I really don't think they're trying to gouge the insurance; they want to know why you passed out. Its serious. It could never happen again, or it could happen again in traffic. You behind the wheel, you the pedestrian who falls down, whatever. Very ungood. Or it could happen alone at home, with you hitting your head on the way down. Also very ungood. You want to know why this happened, if at all possible, & to prevent it from every happening again.

Re: I am overwhelmed...
Cancer sucks. And dealing with doctors and the medical system in general is a recipe for going postal. My nephew (in remission for 3 years from osteo-sarcoma) has been in the hospital all week with a collapsed lung. Prelim tests indicate cancer is NOT back, but docs haven't found an explanation for the lesion that's causing the leak. They re-inflated the lung and kept him overnight Tues. night, released him Wed, he was out for about an hour before the lung re-collapsed, so now he's back in. It spontaneously(?!!??) reinflated Thurs morning, but collapsed again this morning. We're getting a lot of vaccilating between surgery-no surgery/wait and see. Argh!MarleysDad is still asymptomatic and fighting the battle of "The Doctors are just trying to run up the bill".
