^#@*&^ Quik Trip!!
I stopped by since I was starving to death, and I wanted to get a hernia jug of soda so I wouldn't have to wait for my water to get cold after I got home to eat something. Of course, in my condition, I was not going to get my usual Pepsi (Even though I haven't had one since Friday at lunch and it's just killing me!), I was going to get a Sprite....
So I walk up to the vast soda fountain they have, and immediately notice there is one solitary red "Out of Service" tag hanging below one of the choices. Guess which one it was..... the damn Sprite! They don't have 7UP or Sierra Mist (The latter I don't much care for anyway), but that Pepsi fountain sure was calling me........ I didn't want to walk out of there empty without something to drink.....
Well, my willpower is still pretty strong in these early stages.... as I am still starving and patiently waiting for my jug of water to get cold in the freezer. Of course, the only reason I am forcing myself to hold out now is that I know I'll have plenty of soda during my upcoming weekend, so I may as well at least give my kidneys a 5 day rest.....

Hang in there Beast.
I know it can't be easy, but you did the right thing.
Just remember back to the pain part and drink the water.

Giving up the soda when going out to eat is a lost cause.
Giving up the eating out, especially on my weekends, is also a lost cause...
That's why I'm concentrating on cutting back the soda during the days I work, because I don't really need it then...

I...well, that's not a cause to be embraced, anyway. Eating out (or buying take-out) is pretty much the only contribution I make to stimulating this economy.littlebeast13 wrote:Giving up the eating out, especially on my weekends, is also a lost cause...

Fast food is not palatable with water. It requires soda..... and the real kind, not Sprite (I've tried that too)....

So why do you not have cold water on hand at all times? And, you know, they do have a cold water tap in those soda fountains....littlebeast13 wrote:I stopped by since I was starving to death, and I wanted to get a hernia jug of soda so I wouldn't have to wait for my water to get cold after I got home to eat something. As much as I tout the water, I have to agree with this. Even though I don't drink soda or eat fast food, either. (However, they recently opened a McDonald's down the street from me and I've been jonesing for a Big Mac for the first time in over two years.)littlebeast13 wrote:MarleysGh0st wrote:I did it. My water has to be icy... usually at least an hour in the freezer. Just keeping it cold in the icebox doesn't cut it....

You can always makes water icy by.........adding ice! (Hey, at least I agreed with you on the fast food + plus soda thing earlier in the thread.)littlebeast13 wrote:Sisyphean Fan wrote:How does that preclude having cold water at home waiting for you?littlebeast13 wrote:

I add ice to my icy water....
But the water itself has to be icy! Otherwise, it just isn't as good....

Well, yes, the fast food chains' iced tea doesn't compare to my favorite brand, Honest Tea. Which, coincidentally, happens to be the favorite brand of President Obama!littlebeast13 wrote:MarleysGh0st wrote:littlebeast13 wrote:

I can't say I'm on a crusade to rid the world of Equal, but that's one of the things that got me off soda -- I wasn't willing to add the empty calories from the sugary (or corn syrupy) stuff, and the aspartame in the diet stuff was giving me headaches and shooting pains. I took Skoop's advice -- if I want sugar in my tea, I put a packet of sugar in it.MarleysGh0st wrote:littlebeast13 wrote:MarleysGh0st wrote: I did it. I don't like the taste of the artificial sweeteners the soft drink companies add, but a packet of Equal in my coffee or tea is fine for me. Of course, if you have some good quality tea, like (gratuitous plug) Honest Tea, you may find that the taste is satisfactory with much less added sugar than the big brands use.SportsFan68 wrote:I can't say I'm on a crusade to rid the world of Equal, but that's one of the things that got me off soda -- I wasn't willing to add the empty calories from the sugary (or corn syrupy) stuff, and the aspartame in the diet stuff was giving me headaches and shooting pains. I'm not even going to try to reason with you, since I live this. Rain Man has to have a drink when he eats. And he wants a "Flavor Drink".
I pack water in his school lunch, and if it's tepid, that's just too darned bad. But at home I buy Crystal Light and he makes up pitchers of it to satisfy his need for a "Flavor Drink" without mainlining sugar...
