Nominee for best commercial
My vote is for the ad for the NBC Monday line-up, with the singing. The Budweiser ones were funny - I liked the horse fetching the log the best of that group. Maybe the Cheetos ad with the annoying cellphone user. Generally, a lackluster group this year.
I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

I was disappointed in the commercials.
I thought the 'laughing your ass' one off was okay.

I really liked the Clydesdale log fetch one. SteelersFan would vote for the Cheetos.
I dint like any of the soda ads, and I'm sure they don't mind a bit, being aimed at the next generation and all.

I liked the Bud Light defenestration ad.
That was the only ad I could remember.

You had a good ad, but it wasn't the original.
It'll be in the top three anyway, I bet.

I liked that one too. It was my favorite for a while, until the Clydesdale playing fetch came on.NellyLunatic1980 wrote:I liked the Bud Light defenestration ad.

I laughed out loud at the Doritos snow globe (first half of it). The they ruined it with the crotch shot. When will Madison ave learn that less is more?
The pimple/steroid one had me completely fooled.

I had to explain the pimple/steroid one to my husband. I don't think he was listening to the words in
the commercial, which can leave you confused.

It was on their website pre-Super Bowl- and you could vote for the one you liked.
It showed a guy teasing a cat with a laser pointer, and his friend then teased him by getting him to chase a remote-controlled bag of Doritos all over the apartment.

BTW, it was that rarest of Super Bowls tonight.
The commercials sucked, and the game was good.
Usually, it's the other way around.

A generally uninspiring bunch of commercials, but I'll second the nomination for Jake Clydesdale.mellytu74 wrote:My two favorites were the Clydesdale immigrant and the Clydesdale and dancing horse girlfriend.
Although it was stupid, the Moose commercial made me laugh.

My vote would be for the Hulu.com commercial with Alex Baldwin.

Same here. I was at a party with about 15 people, mostly not big sports fans, and I had to do a history of the asterisk in sports before I could even get to explaining the point of the commercial.kayrharris wrote:Thousandaire wrote:I laughed out loud at the Doritos snow globe (first half of it). I didn't cringe but they ruined a good commercial. The guy heaving the crystal ball into the vending machine was so unexpected it was great. And then they ruined it by going for the crotch shot and didn't even have a funny tag-line at the end.SportsFan68 wrote:Agree. Re: Nominee for best commercial
Movie commercials in the Super Bowl are usually not a big deal but there were a couple that caught me off-guard. I had no idea there was going to be a Land of the Lost movie. I was watching the commercial thinking it was just another Will Farrell vehicle but after a few scenes I started to say "This looks familiar" when I saw the Pakuni and realized what it was.
The other one was Year One. Stupid and pointless but I laughed.
The Castrol commercial where the guy is made king of the monkeys was my favorite commercial. Probably not a popular choice but I liked it.

I liked the Doritos commercial, which apparently was not done by a professional ad agency but was submitted by "regular" people as part of a Doritos nationwide promotion. I'm willing to give them a bit of slack on that one.

I also like the Coke Zero ad, which managed a clever update of the Joe Greene classic without just being a schmaltzy recycling.

BTW, we got an AshleyMadison.com commercial as a local commercial here in Houston. NBC refused to air one of their commercials but they were able to buy local time on stations in Texas.
If you don't know what AshleyMadison.com is, here is their description:
The commercial that aired was so vague that we couldn't figure out what it was for until I saw the URL at the end. I only knew about from reading an article about commercials banned by NBC.
If you don't know what AshleyMadison.com is, here is their description:
They offer something called Infidelity Service.About AshleyMadison.com: AshleyMadison.com is the world's largest dating service for men and women who are currently in relationships but looking for more. The site has been making discreet connections since 2001 and has been featured everywhere including Larry King, Howard Stern, Tyra Banks, CNN, Ellen Degeneres, Dr. Phil, Fox News, 20/20, Extra!, LA Times, and Maxim.

Sucks Bobo. Canadian feed blocks the US commercials, due to broadcasting regulations, so I din't see any...of course, I dint watch the game either (I hate football), but I might have left it on in the background to watch the commercials.
Did see the half-time show and it was great.
