Urgent Prayer Request for my daughter

#1 Post by lilyvonschtupp26 » Thu Jan 15, 2009 8:58 am

Just got a phone call from my oldest. Her dad, my ex, had a bad stroke. He's non-responsive.

She's at the hospital. It doesn't look good. While he was a lousy husband, he was a great dad. Mary is a wreck.
I can't go there to support her. So all I can do it pray and keep the cell phone near to talk to her when she
needs a shoulder.

Are they in Chicago? I'm glad you're supporting her. It's very hard losing a parent under any
circumstances.

She will be in our prayers.
Suitguy is not bitter.

The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

My heart is with her. Her father has to be awfully young for a stroke.

Yes, Mary and her Dad are in the area. And while he and I get along just fine, his stepdaughters are the problem.

They were kind of mean to her from the get go, and never got over it. This will be a long road.

I'm so sorry to hear this. You, your daughter, your ex, the wicked stepsisters, and all others concerned are in my thoughts and prayers.

Prayers are enroute. I'm so sorry that Mary has to go through garbage from the steps while dealing with the worry about her dad.

I hope he makes a miraculous recovery. You will be a strong rock for your daughter to lean on during this time.

You are definitely in my thoughts. Can't imagine what I can do to help when I get back to town, but don't be afraid to ask.

I am so sorry.

That just seems so unfair. I'm praying that this rough spot dosen't last too long.
