Oh sweet eligibility!!!
Suitguy is not bitter.

feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive

The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much as I contemplate the possibility of getting another O-Town question and this time hitting it out of the park. :D Oh how I have missed the voice of Sad Fred!!!

Phone Game? Phone Game? Did someone mention something about TOPG? That would be fun again except I would have to take my arthritis medicine though now. :)

As much as we would like, though, I seriously doubt they would bring TOPG back from the dead.

The excitement about the possibility is pretty cool.

Barack Obama keeps trying to use his influence to get a playoff in college football. I think he could have a more immediate impact by lobbying for a Phone Game on WWTBAM. If Obama ever says he misses seeing all the smart white guys in blue shirts on WWTBAM, things will start happening fast.

It's not tea for me. I hate tea. I'm drinking orange punch right now.

But the replies in this thread did indeed almost cause me to spew my orange punch.

TOPG?!

Hey, I'm even more MAWG-ier than before. And my blue shirt(s) are at the pressed and ready...

But, if it can't be me, I would consider the universe to be back in balance if Marley won the TOPG and went on to fame. That would be fitting.

I assume any prime-time revival would be under the auspices of the same production company that runs the syndicated version.

Hate to rain on anyone's parade, but wouldn't the most "logical" approach for a 2-week stunt airing be just to pluck people out of the Sydie version pool?

I seem to remember there's some kind of wavering wall between the two productions that wouldn't allow it. Your memory may vary. Also, think of the publicity if ABC can announce something along the lines of "Remember when you could take the first step toward a million dollars with just a phone call? Starting July 13th, that thrill is coming back", or some such.

Wouldn't that have been equally "logical" for Super Millionaire? And yet, that's not what happened in that case.

It might be "logical" but seeing as how that pool is tanked up with people who have been put in the pool for cutitude, not necessarily smarts, I'd like to think they wouldn't hold the crowd's attention during prime time. Frankly, I rarely look up these days during the early Qs on Syndie, just shout out the answer.

And if they pull the ones they know are also smarties out, TPTB chance to be taken to the cleaners big time, a la Oggie.

And remember how some of their latter-day prime-time versions did away with the early Qs, with disasterous results? So what version of the show, exactly, would they "honor"?

And would they bring the show back with or without the clock? I personally do not like that clock. I have seen too many a fine person fall since the clock was put in.

They didn't do that when Supermillionaire ran.

Hopefully, I just provided a giant umbrella so the parade can go on.

I'm probably wrong in my thinking. I hope I'm wrong in my thinking.

I much prefer the phone game.

I'm not eligible, so it's no skin off my nose, but I preferred the show when it was not "cast."

They used the phone game for BAM.

But it was still almost quite impossible to get on.

One round, 5 questions.

That's rough.

I think a primetime revival would want to build its own excitement.

I don't think pre-selected candidates who auditioned months ago- before the show was even revived- would do that.

I reiterate my idea. TPTB know about this board. They know we can play well, They know we are fans and enthusiastic. They should get the contestants from here. Starting with those who have never been on any version of the show.
