Dancing at the Blue Iguana-Review?

We watched that last night. We had no idea that it was what it was. I'm no prude, but I didn't expect a soft/semi hard (pun intended) core porn film. It was about strippers. It was very Last Exit to Brooklynish, only with strippers. And it eventually sucked you in, which annoys me to no end. However, I can't remember the ending, if there was one. The only thing that surprised me was that I thought Darryl Hannah did a great job. She irritates me because she has terminally greasy hair and looks like a man horse. But, she was quite excellent in this movie.

Has anyone else seen this?

I haven't seen it, but I remember the woman from LA Law promoting it on all the late night talk shows. I can't think of her name, but she's married to the guy who played Toby on the West Wing. I think she even spun this off into a pole-dancing fitness business w/classes & DVDs, etc.

Just out of curiosity, what did you think it was going to be about?

I had no idea really. I wasn't really paying attention. Usually Encore has some interesting movies, and this was, I guess, interesting. I wasn't offended or anything, it just was a disjointed movie.

Oh, I expected some sort of plot or something, not that all movies have recognizable plots, but I just kept expecting something to "happen".

With the, uh, cinematography, who needs a plot?

I checked the imdb listing on this, and prepare yourself for a shock. They had no script.

Although I think I recognized her character from Grey's Anatomy in there too...it was weird

The vast majority of films that go directly to DVD have no script, as do many theatrical ones. I highly doubt an actual human being could or would sit down at a word processor and come up with Paul Blart Mall Cop.

It's one of our 2000 DVDs. I'll have to dig it out and watch it again, perhaps as part of a double feature with Showgirls. Thanks for reminding me about it.
