Is there a more boring pop singer out there ...

#1 Post by gsabc » Thu Dec 18, 2008 7:52 am

... than Colbie Caillat? Extremely limited vocal range, repetitive lyrics - I'm ready for a nap whenever "Bubbly" comes on. Her new song isn't any better. She's easy on the eyes, but otherwise, feh!
I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

Yes. John Mayer. I can't stand him.

I vote for Enya.

Seconded! I go nutso (okay, more than usually) when I have to listen to an entire CD of Celtic music or Enya. And my husband has a bunch of Celtic music, and Enya. If they're mixed in with a shuffle, fine, but all at once and my nerves really fray badly.

I think Enya was a hypnotist in a former life. "You are getting sleepy....." Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz............

You mean people still listen to Enya?

If it weren't for the Big 80's on VH1 back in the 90's, I wouldn't even know Enya existed..... and I would be a better person for that.....

Ooooh--send me your address, and I'll send you a package! And I may toss in some Yanni while I'm at it!

Seriously. I think he got most of that stuff after his dad died, and his stepmother didn't want all that boring crap. He buys Tori Amos and Sarah Maclachlan (sp?) so he would take it off her hands.

Sheesh.... I would kill myself having to listen to that garbage.....

Actually, Tori Amos does a version of "Smalls Like Teen Spirit" they play on VH1C on occasion, which is probably the only thing she ever did that I actually like.... and maybe at that just because it sounds so surreally different than Kurt Cocaine's rendition....

<LOL> I happen to like Enya. As I like Enigma. If you want to get rid of the CDs, let me know - I'll take 'em. ;)

Steve loves Enya. But if I listen to an entire CD, I nod off.

ROTFLMAO!

I like Celtic music in sustained doses every so often, but not as a constant.

The same as with everything other kind of music, I guess.

That said, I do not know the singer gs is talking about.

I do actually work crossword puzzles, but then Enya would just be the same to me as Uri Geller or Brian Eno.....

You've obviously never heard her version of I Don't Like Mondays (which was my fave version until Bon Jovi did it). Want I should send it to you?

I'm not sure it would be possible to do a version of that song I liked......

Well, I was mostly trying to be a smart ass, knowing your history with said tune. But she really does it beautifully, acoustic piano (of course) and slowed down and poignant.

Then again, I like Tori Amos. If you like Hello, Jupiter (my fave TA song), then you'd like this. If you don't, then there's no hope for you. I do believe that might have been a stumper in one of my LS games, so perhaps I'm playing to the wrong audience here, anyway. Ha!

Tori Amos will likely be someone that does not need to be studied up on for the upcoming Winter LS.....

I have no idea who you are talking about.

Here is the chorus to "Bubbly":

It starts in my toes,
And I crinkle my nose.
Wherever it goes I'll always know,
That you make me smile.
Please stay for a while now.
Just take your time,
Wherever you go.

It was pretty much played on VH-1 every ten minutes during the morning video show.

RadioDude plays that one a lot. I much prefer it to whatever style it is where the vocalist sings one phrase and then repeats it 27 times.
