Hey, KT

#1 Post by ToLiveIsToFly » Fri Nov 28, 2008 1:26 pm

I can't believe you left out an artist who you could have done the entire LS today with nuthin' but quality songs:
Spoiler
1. I work five days a week girl
Loading crates down on the dock
I take my hard earned money
And meet my girl down on the block

2. Laying here in the dark you're like an angel on my chest
Just another tramp of hearts crying tears of faithlessness
Remember all the movies, Terry, we'd go see
Trying to learn how to walk like heroes we thought we had to be

3. Don't run back inside, baby, you know just what I'm here for
So you're scared and you're thinking that maybe we ain't that young anymore
Show a little faith, there's magic in the night
You ain't a beauty, but hey, you're alright
And that's alright with me

4. Down fire trails on silver nights with blonde girls pledged sweet sixteen,
The newsboys say the heat's been bad since Power Thirteen gave a trooper all he had in a summer scuffle,
And Power's girl, Little Angel, been on the corner keepin' those crazy boys out of trouble,
Little Angel steps the shuffle like she ain't got no brains,
She's deaf in combat down on Lover's Lane
She drives all them local boys insane.

5. Last night I was out driving
Coming home at the end of the working day
I was riding alone through the drizzling rain
On a deserted stretch of a county two lane

6. Wizard imps and sweatsock pimps
Interstellar mongrel nymphs
Rex said that lady left him limp
Love's like that, sure it is

7. Got on my dead man's suit and my smilin' skull ring
My lucky graveyard boots and song to sing
I got a song to sing, keep me out of the cold

8. We made some small talk that's where it should have stopped
She slipped me her number, I put it in my pocket
My hand slipped up her skirt, everything slipped my mind
In that little roadhouse

9. Me and Frankie laughing and drinking
Nothing feels better than blood on blood
Taking turns dancing with Maria
As the band played Night of the Johnstown Flood

10. Jane moves over to share her pillow but opens her eyes to see Johnny up and
putting his clothes on,
She says, "Those romantic young boys, all they ever want to do is fight,
Those romantic young boys, they're callin' through the window:
Hey, Spanish Johnny, you want to make a little easy money tonight?"

11. I met her on the strip three years ago
In a Camaro with this dude from L.A.
I blew that Camaro off my back and drove that little girl away

12. I'm wandering, a loser down these tracks
I'm dying, but girl I can't go back
'Cause in the darkness I hear somebody call my name
And when you realize how they tricked you this time

13. I met at dance, down at the union hall
She was standing with her brothers, back up against the wall
Sometimes we'd go walking by the union tracks
One day I looked straight at her and she looked straight back
On the other hand, all is forgiven for not including

Well, I WAS going to do a tribute game to that artist this weekend (which is one reason there are none of this artists songs today), but now I'll have to postpone it a bit, thanks. :-)

As for
Spoiler
"Life is a Highway,"
I used it already in this LS cycle, so I didn't want to repeat (which is also why I used "Train Train" yesterday, since I already used
Spoiler
"Highway Song"
, and couldn't use it again yesterday or today).

I suppose I'll just have to use your favorite artist this weekend instead....
There is something wrong in a government where they who do the most have the least. There is something wrong when honesty wears a rag, and rascality a robe; when the loving, the tender, eat a crust while the infamous sit at banquets.

Bring it on. My distaste for that performer (I don't even deign to use the word "artist" :) ) is not borne of ignorance, but of painful familiarity. I may have to suffer through "we were always friends from our childhood days but we made our plans and we had to go our separate ways" or some other atrocity being stuck in my head, but at least I'll know the songs.

Or, to update the banging-the-head-on-the-desk thing, I listen to Mr. Oyster Bay because it feels so good when it stops.
