When you dish out the insults in such *ahem* liberal doses, you have to learn how to take 'em....

And a parting gift for you, Daniel.

Having daniel criticize someone for being insulting is a bit like having Madonna criticize your wardrobe.
I am about 25% sure of this.

And when I have I ever taken some little tidbit of information that I might know about an individual here and deliberately use that to try to hurt that person? Shame on mini. Others like LB have just gone to a juvenile level.

I read this and shrugged. The author is wrong about several things. But he's entitled to his opinions.

Now, contrast my reaction to that article with some of the reactions here to the original article I posted. Why did so many here take such personal offense to it?

Daniel, Daniel, Daniel.

You just said you posted it to see how many people you could tick off. Now, you give us the "everyone's picking on me" response when people got ticked off.

If you have a foe list, please put me on it. For me, I will stop reading your posts until it becomes clear that you've bothered to read them yourself.
I am about 25% sure of this.

I just wonder how many foe lists DanielH made with that remark.
It's threads like this that are the reason I do not have foe lists.

I wouldn't miss out on exchanges like this for all the tea in China.

Wow. Just wow.

I'd go into a rant right now, except that I have a lot of work to do and so many responses have already hit the nail so squarely on the head. I'll just say the fact that danielh would make his original post says a hell of a lot more about him that it does about any liberal.

May I also say that I am proud of how our Bored conservatives have thoroughly repudiated this nonsense? I think perhaps this proves that conservatism isn't a mental disorder, either.

Apparently the domain www. laughablelooney. com was already taken.

I find it heartwarming to know that folks can still get their degree through the home study courses in the TV Guide back pages, next to the "Draw Binky" ad.

Wading very carefully into this mess:

I do not recall Daniel ever making a vitriolic, personal attack on another BB. Can someone provide a link or explanation of when he did?

(BTW: I do agree that Daniel needs to move on about Obama, and others need to move on about Palin.)

Suitguy is not bitter.

feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive

The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

If you don't think Daniel's original post in this thread was a vitriolic attack on every liberal here, then you just don't get it.

He has called potentially everybody on this board a murderer. I'd call that pretty vitrolic [sic] and personal.

He has also insulted every gay person on this board by claiming they are corrupt and that his life and relationship has more validity than theirs.

He's probably said a lot more, but I haven't read it.

I really did not read his post, as I could see the gist of it from the title.

In a way, you are right that I do not get it.

I see a significant difference between what Daniel posts in the abstract and someone using personal information to attack a specific BB.

How abstract is it that one paints a large percentage of one's peers with the description "mental disorder". Where is that abstract? He said himself he wanted to see how many people he ticked off. That isn't abstract. You really should read what he posted before you try to define what he posted.
Well, then

See, you took that "see how many people can I tick off" differently than I did.

I read it to mean, "I am going to post this article because it will get a rise from people", not that he actually beleived it.

So, because Frank called me a bigot in the Prop 8 thread, I am allowed to personally attack him, and everyone else would say that it was justified. I think not.

Hey, I know that Mini is popular around here, but I am surprised that I am the only BB thinking that she crossed the line (in a way that I never thought that she would.)

Was it really a personal attack, though? I don't know anything about danielh, but I thought that comment could have applied very well to John McCain.
