Observation re: foe lists and avatar orientation

#1 Post by WheresFanny » Mon Nov 10, 2008 6:49 pm

So, I know people like to bring up foe lists just to get validation or comments going. But reading Holt Dad's post that the only reason nobody's responding to him is because he's on foe lists made me think about something.

Well, this coupled with the post I wrote the other day that I thought HD was funny (can't even remember what it was now) and saying that, despite what people may think, he was not nor had ever been on my foe list.

Although there are very few people on my foe list, there are many others whose posts I tend to just skip over or not read in the first place. But lately it seemed like I was reading more of their posts than usual. Had they upped their posting? No, it's because I'm using the HK interface!

In HK, the avatar is on the right. I've realized that when the avatar is on the left, I see that before I see the post and, if it's somebody I'm not interested in reading, I just skip over it without even thinking about it. When the avatar is on the right, I read the post without realizing who wrote it beforehand.

This is sort of enlightening. It helps to remove a preconception that one might have based only on the post's author. There have been a few times, although I can't give concrete examples, where I've been slightly surprised when I see who wrote something that I just read. For better or for worse (and it's gone both ways), I think that's a good thing.

Yet just another example of how Hello Kitty totally ROCKS!!!!1

Been trying to get across to you and others for some time now. There is less prejudice coming from the right, than the left.

I don't recall endorsing either side. Actually, I recall cracking on both tickets. Ha!

I would like an HK laptop.

Bet it would never get stolen.

I think three or four of my incarnations are on the HK interface. At least the ones I use most frequently. The others seem so.........empty. HK has sparkles and claps and stars and all the toys!

Squirrels are the architects of forests, the planters of trees, nature's own acrobats and show a zest for life that can inspire us. Every day should be National Squirrel Appreciation Day!

--squirrelmama (10/3/07)

Many of these (squirrel) migrations were probably caused by food shortages as well as habitat overcrowding. We solved that for them. We not only reduced their habitat, we reduced the whole species by about 90%. The least we can do now is share a little birdseed with them.
