Get ready....Get Set....SPEAK LYRICALLY!

#1 Post by KillerTomato » Thu Nov 06, 2008 5:57 pm

Lyrically Speaking returns tomorrow morning, so sharpen up those iPods, dust those musical brain cells, and give it a shot even if you normally wouldn't.

Look at it this way, it'll be a politics-free zone. Kinda like the Moratorium Lounge, but without food and much more expensive liquor.
There is something wrong in a government where they who do the most have the least. There is something wrong when honesty wears a rag, and rascality a robe; when the loving, the tender, eat a crust while the infamous sit at banquets.

What exactly is lyrically speaking about?
Wow! I found the Super Juke Box at our local Fat Burger yesterday! It had every classic rock album you could imagine, of course I indulged the lunchtime teenybopper crowd with long forgotten Humble Pie, Ten Years After, The Faces and Blind Faith and I overate on a great burger with fat fries! The Juke is Free! It must be hooked up to some internet engine? How could they have hundreds of cd's in that box, so many that you can do a search by Artist, Song Title or Album. All of my searches hit the bulls eye the first time around. I want one of these machines for my house! :D

Wow, can I petition for at least some more recent music (late 90s-00s) so that us young cool people can participate...

Steve, we've been playing LS around here for YEARS, dude. You just haven't been paying attention!

Basically, given some lyrics, you give the artist and title. Or maybe not (but anything that deviates from this will be explained when and/or if and/or when it happens.

I'm gonna try to span about 60 years, but I do admit that it will be 70s and 80s heavy.

I promise some hip hop, some brutally new music (of which our old-timers should NOT be scared....tune in this Sunday), some bubblegummy crap that no intelligent person should listen to if they're not 9 and female....a little of everything. But even some of the stuff you've never heard before you may be able to get (heh heh).

Well, phooey. I was hoping you'd tell that young pup that he would have to walk six miles uphill in both directions to listen to the Victrola play Fogie Music, and he'd like it!

Carry on.

Well, there may be some of that, too.

Why was I not informed of this?

Our department has dozens of talented MMs ready to help with promotions--given the proper planning, of course.

"Wildcat" is OK. Just don't call me a "mavrick".

"Spur of the moment doofus" is more correct, anyway.

A Victrola??!! Holy cow!! I haven't heard that term in....

Uh, oh. I'm showing my age again.

I will sharpen my brain and see if I can beat T-Bone this time around.

And this would be different from normal....how?

Luckily, your "making shit up" stuff is funnier and more interesting than some other entire threads.

I can dream.

As my good buddy Dr. Frank-N-Furter sang,

Whatever happened to Fay Wray?
That delicate satin draped frame
As it clung to her thigh, how I started to cry
'Cause I wanted to be dressed just the same
Give yourself over to absolute pleasure
Swim the warm waters of sins of the flesh
Erotic nightmares beyond any measure
And sensual daydreams to treasure forever
Can't you just see it. Whoa ho ho!
Don't dream it, be it
Don't dream it, be it

I have some guys in front of my house who'd be glad to picket this edition of LS is you'd like....
