Southern Illinois had a lot of southerners move there after the Civil War. I always say I'm from St. Louis rather than Southern Illinois, although to people on the Missouri side of the river, we are to be called the "Metro East". The sunrises will continue to get later though until early January.
It's a weird lag thing I was unaware of until just a few years ago and verified through experience last year.....
