Happy Confessor Day!

October 13th was always one of the highlights of the year at my house when I was a kid, so I hope you're all feeling the excitement. I want to wish one and all a very happy Feast of St. Edward the Confessor. I see that he is the patron saint of difficult marriages, so if you're interested in having a difficult marriage, spill your guts to St. Edward and he'll fix you up. He was married to Edith for 21 years and they never got it on, so I guess that's what makes him qualified.

He's my 25th great-grand uncle. I'm descended from his sister Goda or Godgifu.
I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be.

Only 25 generations in 1000 years seems kind of low. You must come from a long line of late bloomers.

Actually that's 28 and is the shortest. I have 98 lines of descent from Æthelred II "The Unready", and most of them are 35 generations.
