The spoiler tags are working

#1 Post by tubadave » Thu Oct 09, 2008 10:31 am

You'll notice that there are two of them now.

The one that says "spoiler" simply puts a black box over your text. Clicking on it once reveals what's underneath.

Code: Select all

[spoiler]The secret has been revealed![/spoiler]
Spoiler
The secret has been revealed!

The second one, which says "spoiler=" works exactly like the one everyone is used to, and also gives you the option of adding a custom title/caption. For example, I'll type this string of code:

Code: Select all

[spoiler=There's a secret waiting here!]The secret has been revealed![/spoiler]
There's a secret waiting here!
The secret has been revealed!

OK, I need to go grab a nap before I have to run errands this afternoon. I'll be back later today if anyone has questions or problems. 8)

Tubadave,

Thank you again for doing this. You are very talented. It also appears that I don't get automatically logged off after 20 minutes of nonuse. Yay!!

Squirrels are the architects of forests, the planters of trees, nature's own acrobats and show a zest for life that can inspire us. Every day should be National Squirrel Appreciation Day!

--squirrelmama (10/3/07)

Many of these (squirrel) migrations were probably caused by food shortages as well as habitat overcrowding. We solved that for them. We not only reduced their habitat, we reduced the whole species by about 90%. The least we can do now is share a little birdseed with them.

If I'm working this correctly, it looks like only the second style allows the reader to toggle back and forth between Revealed and Obscured. For the BlackBar version, once it's viewed you can't hide it again.

The reason I might want to hide it again would be to show an interesting thread to my wife.
I guess I can just back out of the thread and re-enter it, which restores the BlackBar.

It looks like you can no longer put a spoiler within another spoiler. Though you can put a black spoiler inside a Reveal/Obscure spoiler, or vice versa.

You have no idea how much fun I can have with the new Richard Nixon black box spoiler tags. I could make all of my posts look like Watergate tape transcripts. :P

Speaking of Black Boxes, there was a bit of a problem getting it right for a recent Batman comic book.
