Disneyland closed for Miley

Disneyland was closed for Miley Cyrus' 16th birthday. She actually turns 16 in November, but, whatever. Anyhoo, some wag said that she made a wish when she blew out her birthday candles but her dad sang anyway.

From what I heard, Disneyland only closed during the evening for her birthday.

From what I also heard it was Gay Day at Disneyland that day and there are some who believe that Disneyland closed the park for her birthday to ruin the event.

Gay Days Anaheim, an unofficial event at Disneyland, ran Oct. 3-5. Miley's party was on Sunday evening at Disneyland. Disney extended the hours of the California Adventure theme park on Sunday night.

The Gay Days website says this about it:

**NOTE: Yes, Miley Cyrus is having her birthday at Disneyland on Sunday, October 5 and Disneyland will be closing at 5pm that day. That's our scheduled day at Disney's California Adventure so we don't forsee any changes to Gay Days Anaheim. Although we would love her to come sing for us!**

Disney is also using this Miley Cyrus birthday party as part of their upcoming "What Will You Celebrate?" campaign. Starting in 2009 you can get free admission to to Disneyland or Disney World on your birthday.

I have no opinion either way on Miley Cyrus' birthday, Disney, or Gay Days.

I got to tease my son that he shared a birthday with Miley, until he found out her birthday wasn't really the 5th. Or even in October.

We got an email about the celebration deal because we're passholders. But since by definition a passholder means you've already got your admission covered for a year, the whole free birthday deal is meaningless. Except for the extra FastPasses you can get...

They can keep it closed for all I care. Unless you have small children or you are a glutton for repitition in your lives. They add a major new attraction about every 10 years! It's generational. Yo ho yo ho, I can't believe their shows..........................

Seriously. I have no opinion either way. Gay Days Anaheim seems to be a reasonable organization of like-minded individuals but I don't know. I'm not making any value judgments on them.

Disney has good points and bad. No strong opinion on them either way.

Miley Cyrus is a popular entertainer, or so I'm told. If others disagree, that's fine.

I put the disclaimer in for two reasons. One, this seemed like a topic loaded for political/ideological responses. It has Disney, Miley Cyrus, and Gay Days. Those are topics that seem to agitate some people. I wanted to make it clear that I was only posting information in a non-partisan way.

Two, I thought it sounded funny.

I read on a Disney site that there is a third option..you can choose a $50.00 gift card to spend at a park store..but it HAS to be spent on your birthday only.
