October Weekday QOD

#1 Post by ulysses5019 » Mon Oct 06, 2008 1:02 am

Here we go. And here are the rules:

One question per day. I will give you categories for each weekday. There is a 1-3-5-7 point scale. You may only use each point value once. Friday is a bonus question with different scoring (8 points available) which will be explained when I ask the question. There is a total of 24 points available this week and 130 total for my portion (twenty weekdays) of the game.

Let's play. No outside sources.

Tuesday-Literature
Wednesday-Music
Thursday-Geography
Friday-Entertainment

Monday's question-

Who was the mellow host of the public television series The Joy of Painting?

I think it's Bob Ross. At least I hope so. Maybe it was that different show with a paining nun.

No guts, no glory.

7 points, all in, on Bob Ross.

So I'm assuming we get to pick the values after we see the question? If so, then I'm definitely taking my 7 today because I not only know this one cold, I have the MM to prove it.....

Spoiler

I'll wager 7 points.

Answer: Bob Ross

The show was produced at WIPB in Muncie, Indiana. I watched them do a few episodes. They shot the show live on tape with two cameras and with no edits. Just Bob in front of the canvas for a half hour making a painting.
No matter where you go, there you are.

Argh! Can't remember the name of the painting guy, and my son has recently become fascinated with this show, saying it calms him, so I'll wager 1 point and name the drawing guy, John Nagy.

Mini and Eyegor definitely remember him. He was one of my faves from back in the day, because he wasn't quite a PC like teebee or jbg, but he certainly was a bit of a dickhead. I registered the name as an MM over here back in January planning on using it to unveil my drawings.... only to have ES come along 3 months later and take his job away from him!

You should change you avatar to reflect each day's question....

Not that I don't like your current avatar, but I know it's minutes are numbered anyway....

You can go and add the points you want. Just do it before the end of the day......or before you go and look up the answer.
