Yeah - I think Bobby (renovator) started it, as a nickname, and I liked it. I thought it was cute, so I adopted it. It has no connection to the Hussein boys.MarleysGh0st wrote:But I still don't understand why you're calling her by the name of one of Saddam Hussein's oh-so-charming sons. I am calling her by her nickname, not by the son's name.

Uday really is nothing more than a funny mispronunciation of the name by which almost everybody calls me. I think I might have ended up as Uday even if the Hussein boys had been named Bob and George.MarleysGh0st wrote:But I still don't understand why you're calling her by the name of one of Saddam Hussein's oh-so-charming sons. (What's not widely known is that Saddam's nefarious sons both secretly wanted to be addressed as "Zhoodeet." Weird, huh?)

I don't find it weird OR confusing. I've explained it before! Hopefully my self censoring will save us from a Google Jihad.peacock2121 wrote:trueMarleysGh0st wrote:One of those weird and confusing nicknames.peacock2121 wrote:My bad.

Re: Mecca S***ks!
I just put the first one in this morning, so I'll let you know. I will say that the stick works just like they show in the commercial and leaves a pretty, aqua decoration in the bowl that looks like you did it with a star tip.MarleysGh0st wrote:I'd like to know this, too. Good, bad, actually work, just another gimmick?
I'm not sure I'll be able to give an opinion on the stains, since mine was clean. If you have a Dollar General in your area, the best toilet cleaner in the WORLD is the Dollar General brand. We don't have one here so I always have my brother bring me some when he visits.
Also, my bathtub and toilet in my old house had some old rust stains that I ended up getting off with a pumice stone. It was an old house with a 'real' bathtub and toilet, so I wouldn't recommend it for more modern surfaces because I've had no experience with that.

1. The previously mentioned VCR fiasco.
2. The prices seem to have recently gone up clear across the store. Cat food, the Millstone coffee you grind, even Great Value Shake & Bake! And not by a small amount, either.
3. It's bad enough they've had the Equate Pepto Bismol slot green dotted for over a month, now they've filled up the slot with more Pepto-Bismol.
4. Completely out of Great Value paper towels. Like I'm going to spend 3-4 times that for Sparkle or Mardi Gras. Nice try, Mecca!
5. No wingettes in the poultry section, just the whole wings. When I finally found a meat department employee to see if I was just overlooking them I only got a 'huh, must be outta 'em' and a blank stare when I asked if they could take a package of the regular wings and chop them in two for me.
6. I thought there was something else, but I must be suppressing it.
Now onto the chemical department question:
So, what's the skinny on those new toilet cleaner sticks where you just stick on a glob of stuff onto the side of the bowl? Good, bad, actually work, just another gimmick?
I think they're Tidy Bowl, but I can't remember the name of them. Or maybe it's Lysol, they have a picture of a Scrubbing Bubble on them. Yeah, I can recognize a Scrubbing Bubble, but I can't remember the company, ha! Picked up a package just because I'm progressive and cutting edge that way.
**I buy the Oasis brand of paper towels and our store wasn't out last week when I bought some. They are very inexpensive. The bizarre thing is that now the towel has a completely different texture. It is like they are using some type of paper filler.
** The cheese prices. OMG! It was OMG++, but now just OMG, because mysteriously the prices started dropping where I least expected it. The shredded cheese prices have come down considerably. I went ahead and bought some of the GV brand. The taste is different, and it melts differently. I think that they are using some type of filler in the cheese. I looked at the ingredients, but I have no idea what a filler would be called.
** The size of the GV tuna cans have decreased, but the prices have remained the same. I probably wouldn't have caught this, but I use an online program to monitor what I eat on a daily basis. (sparkpeople.com btw) Although the site has a huge database of food items, many times the items I eat are different than what is listed on their site, so I just enter the nutritional information manually into the site. I know that the tuna cans used to be 6 ounces, but they are now 5 ounces. SNEAKY! In all fairness, I had heard that reducing quantity of the items, rather than raising the prices, might be coming into play due to the cost of gasoline, etc., this was just my first experience with it.
** On a rather surprising note, I found out that WalMart sells prosciutto! Who would have thought? LOL
I was wrong about the paper towels. I don't know why I thought we used Oasis. We do use the Wal-Mart brand. There wasn't any shortage of it today when we went shopping.

My store doesn't even have the GV paper towels...and I've never heard of Oasis...my cheapest ones are Mardi Gras or Sparkle.
And as far as prices, I have a great story. I had to return some stuff about 3 weeks ago. I had purchased it all about a month before that. You know how when you return something, you see the current price, then they'll type in what you actually paid based on the receipt? Every single item was $0.25 - $1.00 more expensive. In one month. I was disgusted. Then I started to think maybe that's better than the stock market, buy stuff and return it 2 months later without a receipt - better rate of return than most investments these days!!

Wow, that's a great idea! I'm such a stickler about keeping receipts, that this wouldn't have crossed my mind to do it this way.sunflower wrote:My store doesn't even have the GV paper towels...and I've never heard of Oasis...my cheapest ones are Mardi Gras or Sparkle.

Our detergent prices shot up again on Friday... pretty much everything but the stuff on special and the low-low end brands....
If someone were to return a bottle of detergent they bought a year ago, they'd certainly make a nice little profit.....

I actually have been buying stuff like that at the grocery store lately. They're trying to lure people in with health & beauty and detergents/paper products so the prices have been pretty comparable. I'm sure they'll shoot up in due time, but for now, to have one stop shopping is a nice perk.
That and I got a 60 day free membership to BJ's so I will be checking that out to do a cost comparison.
