My solution: do away with sanctuary cities completely and forever and prosecute the public officials who do not comply. If they want to secede from the union, let them knock themselves out. Otherwise they need to comply with federal law on immigration or change the frikken law. DO NOT IGNORE IT BECAUSE YOU DON'T LIKE IT.
(That goes for everything else as well. If you ignore or flaunt the law, be prepared to suffer the consequences. If we ever get someone with enough cajones to hold someone accountable for doing so.)

Is everyone O.K. with a sanctuary city from paying federal income taxes? Asking for a friend.
Or from the draft, if we ever resort to that again?
Or for radio broadcasting (even if it interferes with other broadcsting)?
Or the clean air act? I know some cities around here that would love to sanctuary themselves from having to follow those federal laws.

Is it the job of the city of Minneapolis to collect federal taxes, or to enlist people in the draft?

If they have employees, the yes, they collect taxes (and pay part of those taxes).
O.K. What about bank robbery? You rob a bank here in Texas, and flee to Minneapolis and spread some of the money around where folks there think you're a modern day Robin Hood. The police know who you are, what you did, and where you are. O.K. for them to stay silent and do nothing?

And, not many bank robbers, but it's an easy Google to see the number of killers, rapists, drug runners and human traffickers they've removed in Trump's first year, if one is actually interested.

If ICE concentrated on those, instead of spreading a dragnet on immigrant neighbourhoods, they’d get much more cooperation from local cops and fewer protests.

Again, it’s not the state or city responsibility to enforce federal immigration law. Another aspect is that there is a moral dimension to this that you continue to miss. Some people oppose this because hard-working, law abiding people are being picked up. So when you make all these comparisons you also ignore the moral revulsion people have toward this policy - nevermind it being counterproductive.
Why don’t you read some of these studies from the Cato Institute? Our government is taking away net contributors to our society to placate losers like yourself and racist bunker creeps like blackhole.

Ooh, alllmost there.. it would be up to the IRS to arrest tax dodgers. They've done it for years with cooperation from local law enforcement.
