Re: Greenland
Greenland is a part of Denmark, much like Alaska and Hawaii are parts of the United States. It's not a colony, although it has self-rule, much the same as the various United States have self-rule. The US was granted the use of several military bases in Greenland by treaty with Denmark, much the same as we have military bases in various European countries.
There is no legal, historical, ethnic, or moral justification whatsoever for the U.S. to seize Greenland other than our military ability to do so. The 50,000 or so residents are happy with their current government, and Greenland has no drug trade or anything else that might present a threat to the United States. Seizing Greenland would be a blatant case of "might makes right." This would be Putin-style aggression and would make it much easier politically for China to invade and seize Taiwan.
