MAGA assholes threaten murder in Indiana

#1 Post by Weyoun » Fri Dec 12, 2025 4:48 pm

At last check, 12 members of the Indiana Senate received death threats. These were all Republicans considering voting against the gerrymander bill that would’ve split Indianapolis into four districts.

As you may have heard, the bill did not pass, because of their efforts. In fact, the vote was not close.

So there’s hope for this country yet.

But next time someone whines about a particular party being the party of violence, remember that 12 different Republicans were threatened by MAGA freaks with death.

There's a lot I don't know about regional politics. I don't understand Texas politics, like at all. But as a lifelong Hoosier (or Indianan, if you're from Turning Point USA), I feel pretty comfortable with the politics of this state. We are a solidly Republican state -- there is no questioning that. I opposed the redistricting plan, because it's unprincipled to break that kind of law/tradition just to try to preserve Donald Trump's majority. But secretly, I was kind of rooting for it. My district, the 8th, for instance, would've gone from R + 19 to about R + 11, and with a strong enough candidate and an anti-Republican wave like there might be next year, that would be winnable.

But while there are many MAGA Republicans in the state legislature, there are more of what Flock has called RINOs. And they are what I would call common sense Republicans. For instance, while I disagree with just about every move they've made in the area of public education over the last 20 years, they have replenished the teachers' pension fund, which both parties have been stealing from for decades. They have enacted what I consider to be overly aggressive anti-abortion laws, but they have also drawn attention (and funding, which is the true test) to women and children's health, which has been neglected here for a long time. And it may be because they have such a supermajority (the Senate is 40-10 Republican, fercryinoutloud), but they tend to stick to the rule of law 99% of the time.

I also believe most of the threats and attacks on these senators have not come from what I think of when I say MAGA. I don't think this is a bunch of red-hat wearing old white folks from rural areas who are doing it for entertainment. I think it's the extreme fringers who get a kick out of being outrageous, the groypers, the skinheads, even the bot farms and foreign influences that engage in swatting for funsies. To paint the entire MAGA crowd with that crayon is no more fair than to say that all liberals are Commies. I deplore it, but I'm also a little glad it happened so that these Republicans can see that those on the other side of the aisle are not exaggerating when they discuss this.

I think what troubles me most, though, is the naked extortion visited on my state in advance of the vote. It may not have come from Trump himself, but it definitely came from high up in his administration, and our own Lt Gov, Micah Beckwith (who is a real piece of work, but that's for another day) amplified it and gave it credibility. For those who didn't see it, the day before the vote, Indiana legislators were told that if they didn't vote to pass redistricting, federal funds would dry up -- no road funding, no health care funding, no FEMA emergency funds. That's not right. I'm glad these lawmakers had the courage to say no. And as one legislator put it, "I don't think Washington realizes how good we are at driving with potholes."

Just want you to think about one name: Jessie Smollett. And think about how much the legacy media wants this story to be true and how many other things they've lied to you about. Just food for thought.

Am I misreading this somehow? Are you actually implying that 12 Republican state senators, one of whom I know personally, are lying about bomb threats and swatting attacks? Lawmakers engaging in a coordinated series of false reporting, which is (I believe) a felony?

So you're saying that a dozen Republican Indiana legislators made up stories about death threats against them for some unknown reason or that the "legacy media" misreported what did or did not happen, yet not one of those Republican legislators went to Fox News or some right-wing-friendly news outlet to complain.

Just food for thought.

And we have another definition for the Flock dictionary:
legacy media - any news organization that prints anything bad about Trump. Legacy media stories are usually fake news.

Well, pardon me. Of course, none of you got the point I was making, as is often the case. I wasn't accusing any of those Indiana respresentatives that got elected using the republican brand of lying. I'm sure they got threats of one kind or another. So do many MAGA aligned representatives - every day.

But how do you or they know who is sending these threats? Maybe you're right and they come from the lunatic fringe of the right - which is not MAGA, by the way. (But your ilk will never be convinced of that.) But it is just as likely, I would say even more, that these anonymous threats come from the lunatics aligned with the democrat party. I don't think you can even call them the fringe anymore. The lunacy is very much in your party's main stream.

BTW, the dictionary named after me has jumped the shark, if it could ever have been considered clever to begin with. It's just another device for SSS to use to avoid thinking about, or even considering, truths and facts he has no answer for and tying them to his pervasive TDS. But knock yourself out. At least it shows a bit of creativity. More so than calling me stupid names like the alleged doctor does.
