On Dick Cheney...

After further review of 20 or so years.... I will admit that I am probably wrong on the viewpoint I had about the Iraq War. I know that I don't know what I don't know, but based on hindsight, history seems to show there were no WMDs, or else they remain well hidden.
I was convinced, like so many others, of the existence of weapons of mass destruction. This WMD story was pushed forward by people like Cheney, Colin Powell, and Bush and was the predicate for invading Iraq. Subsequent history is evidence that it probably was not true, and I will submit I was probably wrong in that, as was the Bush administration. That is no consolation to the thousands of people on both sides who gave their lives or health to this war.
However, I always am cognisant that when there are 2 opposing sides to a political issue, One side MUST be lying, but it is probable that BOTH sides are. This, I believe, is one of those cases. The left had their chant, as always. It was 'Blood for Oil'. Well, looking at it with hindsight, we didn't take their oil. I'm still not sure what we did it for. Revenge against Saddam for Bush's daddy? Regime change for the 'better'? Nation Building? Take your pick, but we didn't do it for the oil.
So, you're gonna puke, SSS, but once again Trump was right. Not the Bush admin, and not the Democrat left. Just Trump. He opposed the Iraq war at the time, and I believe he advocated that if we were going to do it, we should take over the oil fields as compensation.
