Darn. Leticia James didn't 'get' Trump like she promised.

A home for the weary.

Translation: Trump was guilty of massive business fraud, but the $500 Million judgment was excessive. The various injunctions against Trump doing business in New York still remain in effect. James will appeal to the highest New York appellate court. Only Trump could consider today's decision total victory. (I'm not including Flock in that statement because I think he's at least somewhat more coherent than Trump.)An appeals court decision on Thursday determined that the financial verdict from New York Justice Arthur Engoron — which has ballooned to more than $515 million, with growing interest — was “excessive.”But the ruling only applies to the financial penalties. The court upheld Engoron’s findings that the president and his business partners committed brazen fraud — falling short of the vindication that the president sought through the courts to save him.
In a statement, James said the decision supports the “well-supported finding of the trial court: Donald Trump, his company, and two of his children are liable for fraud. "The court upheld the injunctive relief we won, limiting Donald Trump and the Trump Organization officers’ ability to do business in New York,” she said. “It should not be lost to history: yet another court has ruled that the president violated the law, and that our case has merit.”
SSS must be feeling better. Feels like old times.silverscreenselect wrote: ↑Thu Aug 21, 2025 1:13 pmSince Flock's reading comprehension apparently hasn't improved since I've been largely absent from the political lounge, let me refer you to the article:

Flock, you may be the only person who is ecstatic that your role model has been found guilty of massive business fraud (and of sexual assault in another famous case). I haven't read the appellate opinion, and it's sure to be appealed, so I don't know what recourse James and Judge Engoron have in resentencing Trump to a lower amount of damages. As for the "charges" against James, my view is the same as about the 60 cases of "documented" election fraud. Until somebody introduces evidence in a court of law, all you've got is a lot of hot air from the usual sources.flockofseagulls104 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 21, 2025 1:47 pmHer and her judge overstepped their bounds by several miles. Because of that, the verdict and the 'punishment' is now rendered meaningless. She didn't, and she won't, get her goal. Not anywhere near.

The only thing he is guilty of is being the target of the disgusting practice of lawfare. Which I am personally familiar with, though at a much lower level. The main thing you are guilty of is continuing willful ignorance.silverscreenselect wrote: ↑Thu Aug 21, 2025 3:04 pmFlock, you may be the only person who is ecstatic that your role model has been found guilty of massive business fraud (and of sexual assault in another famous case).
