Los Angeles Fires

There are no words for this. This is just as devastating as if a foreign enemy did an all-out bombing campaign on one of our major cities to destroy it. Thanks to God that the immediate loss of life is so low.
But what about the lives of those who have lost everything and have no way of recovering it going forward? What about the thousands of people who now have no home and no livelihood?
The destruction will be felt for many years to come.
God be with these people and the people of North Carolina who are still in need.

Gavin Newsome is all upset accusing Trump of politicizing the fire tragedy for asking the questions that anyone and everyone has.
I am asking those same questions and I would like to ask booby if he's proud of the performance of his one-party state in fulfilling the basic responsibility of any government, being prepared to protect its citizens.

Here I was venturing in here to thank you for your gracious words in the first post of this thread.
As we say in Indiana: Ope.

Nono, he has a perfect right to post whatever her wants whenever he wants. I was just hoping the tone shift would last a little more than 2 hours.

I am commenting on what is being discussed in the world. I just hope my state is not as ill-prepared. We dodged a bullet a few months ago that North Carolina got the brunt of. I hope Georgia learns something from this tragic event. Sorry if I hurt your feelings.
Sorry if bob is in ill health. I do not venture over to the main island very often. But his viewpoints are still valid to be questioned.
And you got my pronouns wrong. I don't have any pronoun fetish. Just the real ones.

Events like this will keep happening because of climate change.
It’s partly the responsibility of Republican wingnuts, who deny such a phenomenon and think a bunch of trees will fix it - the only time they want to plant trees, lol.
But liberal leaders need a better plan in place too. Gavin Newsom has come off as terrible, and of course Karen Bass wasn’t even on the right continent.
We need practical, hands-on leadership that deals in facts, not in policies meant to placate the emotionally immature.

I don't think repubs are against better land management, water management, shutting off powerlines with increased faults, etc.
I guess we could dispense with manufacturing stuff with fossil fuels, in which case no more computers or phones or message boards.
Then there are those pesky arsonists or peeps who don't clear out their gardens.

Yeah, Yeah, That's the ticket.
Can't you think of a way to blame Trump?

Yeah, it’s like they never had wildfires or wind in California before man got there. ‘cept that’s how most of those majestic trees germinated.
What wasn’t there, back then, were million dollar houses. Just grass and a few trees, so no big deal. Oh, and no media to report it. It just happened.

Hey Bit, don't you know that in 1712 there were no hot dry Santa Ana winds blowing across the chaparral.
But seriously, even if you consider every fire prior to, say, 1990 due to natural causes and every fire after that only due to climate change and you completely ignore the landscape changes in the area in the last 100 years that is not a reason to do nothing.
As a matter of course, if one of the tenets of your religion is that the Los Angeles area will face increasing fire dangers due to climate change that is a reason to be super prepared-ie make sure all your reservoirs are full and so forth.
Not just stand there holding your dick when the fires hit and say-"Muh, climate change."

It’s a fact (not religion) that the past decade has been the hottest since they began keeping records, around the globe. Even if climate change isn’t the main cause of fires, hurricanes, etc., it makes them more severe.
Biden has been preaching resilience for years: sturdier houses along the shore, protecting watersheds and forests, and so on. You believe in preventive land management too. If officials in California don’t get this, they have their head up their ass.

Accepting that, "since they began keeping records", is a pretty small period, if you're not a young Earther. Even so, a few hundred years out of 4,000 (not counting the antediluvian period because, well, everything changed) is a pretty small sample.

Biden has primarily been preching that we (the U.S.) are the cause of climate change and that if we go back to the stone age, we can all live happlily (but hungry, naked, walking everywhere, thirsty, hot in the summer, cold in the winter) ever after.

BiT, You are being very generous when you say the we have been keeping records for a few hundred years. I doubt we have temperature records from the interior of Angola in 1850. I submit we barely have true global weather records since 1900-if that.
Anyone, such as Weyoun, who reflexively blames Republicans for "Climate Change" without EVER even mentioning China and India who are popping up coal plants like mushrooms is not a serious person on the topic. Even if you want to, you can't get anywhere without China and India on board.

California's one-party state, that has held climate change as a religion since the global cooling and the ozone hole manufactured crises fizzled out, should have been well prepared for this. They obviously weren't. They had other priorities than protecting their citizens.
