Yeah, pretty much. I have said before how much I detest the mindset of large parts of the agricultural industry. The dependence on (and hypocritical acceptance) of subsidies only being one of these.
BUT, when the guys I am competing with for land take them-I have to take them also.

I guess that maybe when you put someone on your enemies list (or whatever you supposedly did) it lets you see part of a post, but not all.Spock wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2024 8:47 amWBTravis>>>"I’m guessing that maybe you’ve talked to yourself about how you weren’t really in favor of the all of the agricultural subsidies that Trump threw y’all’s way as “COVID Relief,” which you knew were ridiculous and unjustified, and just took the money anyway."<<<<

When you start a new thread by quoting a portion of a post of mine from a different thread -- (which in and of itself pretty much means it is taken out of context to begin with) -- please use the entire quote and whatever the post was that I was referring to as well.
Here was your comment that I was responding to:
As I mostly work by myself-I hold long conversations that can sometimes last years. I am quite the amusing chap if I say so myself. Why shouldn't I post conversations with myself here? Might as well do what I do in real-life.
Anyway, yes, I remembering seeing at least one other post of yours where it seemed like you were patting yourself on the back for feeling guilty about taking those payments, unlike the other hypocrites who didn't feel guilty. I also remember you kind of bragging about being involved with some clubs (or something like clubs) that had Democrats as members, and seeming to be proud that that somehow also distinguished you from the other hypocrites who weren't involved in groups like that.
I don't remember, though, seeing you characterize before now those payments as land-acquisition assistance for you and "the guys [you are] competing with for land," which makes me wonder whether you are still in search of a rationalization of the hypocrisy that fits best with your self-image. Like maybe that sounds better than income assistance to you.
I am curious about everybody else here: Did y'all get y'all's land-acquisition assistance during the Trump years? Man, talk about inflationary!
Oh well, maybe when all the extra revenue ends up coming into the federal coffers one of these days from the Trump tax cuts, as promised, that'll more than cover all of that.

That is not a subsidy thing. I simply think those groups tend to have better ideas on soil erosion and SOME other conservation issues. But it is mainly the soil erosion issue that drove me to join a couple of those groups. IE-"The Land Stewardship Project" and "Farmers Union."
I detest the drive in my profession to destroy every blade of grass and every little patch of nature. That is the big one for me. I read Isaiah 5:8 as applying to nature and not only people.
It was funny when shortly after I came to that interpretation, our pastor basically said what I believed and a neighbor who is one of those who will not leave a single blade of grass on his farm got very uncomfortable. It won't stop him from bulldozing everything in his path-but at least he heard another interpretation of something.
